Re: Horny Goat Lounge has a stage that would love to host your act!

I love me my AntiM. I think last time I actually hugged you was the old Vegas Regional. I sure did hug a bearded man in a big rig and Kilt. Blush. Damn, that's a memory. My old Goat now has an Old Goat Club patch on his kilt. He does love hugs. truckman.JPG Sorry for the detour, Horny Goat Camp. Pl...

Re: Virgin Burner of a Different Sort

Welcome Aboard. I'm over 60, a Navy vet, although not a combat vet. I have lived in Saudi and Iran, way back in the 70s. My husband is also retired Navy. I was born and raised "in the Navy", so I do appreciate the dichotomy of what shaped my life and the Burning Man ideals. There's actuall...

Also, before you let anyone in the RV, before departure, insist on a "ticket check". Physically look at their tickets or their will call paperwork/email. Our very first year, our rider had indeed left his ticket at home, on his fridge.

Moderator's note: Moved to art and performance as that is a better fit than building camps, which is about infrastructure and planning.

Note to Rongo, you do realize you are complaining about performance art on a post asking others to interact and participate in performance art?

Welcome Aboard! Even if you plan on finding a camp, which you really don't need to do, please read up on the Survival Guide and the First Timers Guide. Most camps expect you to bring in things such as your own tent. Be very careful about camps with high dues, if something happens and they don't get ...

Re: Advice for art long-term playa-proofing?

Anti M, Really? ModPodge! I'll have to revisit that. I'm well known for doing it wrong. Every year I make a bunch of collages to gift but mine are laminated 8 by 10s. This way I can be lazy and stick them together with a glue stick. At the burn the people can browse the post cards, collages and bot...

:coffee: :coffee: :coffee: I've seen one presale say they are not going because of work, and not a one time poster so I tend to believe he's for real. The others? Probably perfectly nice people except they had the time and resources to game the sales. I wish the org would close that fucking loophole.

Re: Advice for art long-term playa-proofing?

Definitely wood glue. I have a gift box which sits out on the playa year after year, and I used Titebond wood glue on its letters and trim. As for a sealer, find a good UV stable exterior/outdoor matte or satin spray on sealer. Krylon brand has done well for me, and Rustoleum is also a good option (...

Welcome Aboard! Another place to look for an RV is Salt Lake City, Utah. We are a big outdoor state, so there's a lot of RV potential here, and it is only a (long) day's drive from here. We also have an international airport, although you will need to add a couple days for the drive. Even we hit a m...

I have a pile of plastic envelopes full of maps, survival guides, WWW, and assorted newspapers, and other paper stuff. Enough so I use it to make collages with at times. I even have a couple 2001 passports from the game where you got doubloons.

Anti M's Home for Wayward Art is another 5 person theme camp, although we are within the village of Hushville. My application went in early. You certainly can do this, and even if you do not get placement, you certainly have the people and resources to be Independent Camp. Have fun, let us know how ...

Fuel hauling and storage has very specific hazmat rules and requirements. You need to contact the appropriate official Burning Man department for that. https://burningman.org/event/art-performance/fire-art-guidelines/fuel-hazmat-storage/ As for the other ideas centering around aircraft, it would be ...

Re: Recommended tent fan

Evap coolers working properly in a shaded vented tent should lower the temp around 20 degrees. Much more than that is unrealistic. We got down to the mid 70s in a small tent last year, but you have to stay ahead of the curve and not let the tent get hot in the morning. "Bursting the heat bubble...
