Re: 2018 One item a day for BM list

New battery for the pickup.

Art, every day, all the time.

Weekly fire conclave practice, even though we aren't lighting up yet.

Completely, such as islands, and often, inside large complex structures.

Welcome Aboard!

MyLarry is from Clarksburg originally, although I have dragged him West and kept him here. You'll have to drop by our camp and say hi! Anti M's Home for Wayward Art, remarkably easy to find.

Re: Is theft common?

Someone stole our mannequin mailbox last year. I am still heartbroken over the loss of Fernando. We have yet to have someone rummage through camp, but it happens. Love thy neighbor, but lock your valuables up, especially on Burn Night. We do leave a cheap beer cooler "out" as a decoy.

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

For monkey huts, the rebar is structural, not just for a tie down point. Lags are not really in the equation.

Re: Set Alight

Using your first year to figure things out, helping when and where you can, is perfectly fine. A friend of mine did that, found her groovy place her second year, and volunteered enough so she has a ticket (and shower and commissary privileges) for her third year. This is not a sprint!

Welcome Aboard. Great username.

Tickets can be tricky, but the more people you know, IRL and online, the better your chances. Maximize your footprint, cast your nets wide, and plan as if you have a ticket in hand. Things happen.

Re: Best thing you ever saw

First year, headed to the pottys predawn, then walked out onto the open esplanade where I could see the man, a red heart on a triangle, the plastic chapel and a lighted dome. For some reason it was a moment of still and quiet that stuck with me. 17 burns, most of the magic was deep playa and small i...

Re: Adult Trikes: Any recommendations?

We paid under $300 for mine, on base. Three speed, sturdy, and no, we do not shade it. A big-ass shade hat does just fine. Not sure of the brand, but it is a step up from the WalMart cheapies. Do NOT buy one from China on eBay. Nope.

Welcome Aboard. Sounds like you've got the passion for doing it right. Does your pickup have a shell/topper? The dust is not to be underestimated, do not bring any tools which you need for real life, as the dust has the potential for fucking things up forever. Sadly, there is also theft, so be sure ...

Welcome Aboard.

You most assuredly do not need to join a camp. If you spot one which interests you, and want to join their vision, that's great, but DO NOT join one just to provide for your needs. You may be disappointed.

The Pallet Palace was at the other end of Hushville from us, or we were at the other end from them! Our home is cozy, but doesn't face the street, the art gallery does. Loved the Palace!!!

I moved this to 2018 Arts and Performance as that is a much better fit for an art project than Greeter's Station. That forum is more for personal introductions. This is where art projects are best discussed. It sounds fantastic!

We always play Friday night at midnight at Videogasm, with a Tuesday practice. Join the public facebook group, and watch for casting call. Some of us do the same parts, but there's always a need for enthusiastic people!

Mmmm, coffee. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I too have a lot of arty stuff and indecision. Piles of 3.5 discs recently unearthed from the bowels of my workroom. My fridge poetry words we took to the playa in 2003. A bag of rogue jingle bells. 400 orange pompoms which may just need to go away.
