I don't really understand the bias against camps where a core team of 10-20 people builds a structure that is shared and enjoyed by 100+ campers, who are contributing a wide range of other things to our camp and to BRC in general. Having help with their personal shelter/shade could mean that they sp...

I understand the reasons why some theme camp proposals would be rejected on merit, and I'm not trying to say that everything should be accepted. The question I'm asking the placement team (in a personal letter as well as here) is this: if there were so many worthy applicants, and they were facing a ...

I like the idea of a reject camp district, or for those of us in scattered locations we could post matching signs: "WARNING - THIS AREA NOT DEEMED THEME-CAMP WORTHY BY THE PLAYA PLACEMENT COMMITTEE - ENTER AT OWN RISK"

We recognize that our size might have been a problem - we need 200' x 200' to accommodate our structure/art plus over 100 people. We submitted our application about a week early, and included examples of our prior playa art projects (some done through official channels with early entry, and some done as personal smaller-scale things). Our shade structure and about half of the lighting had been taken out there before, and we ha...

this is bullshit. If our application was interpreted this way (as just a chill space), it wasn't read very carefully. We were offering a 50ft tower with a beacon on top that could be seen anywhere on the playa (and has been a great public service in past years in helping people find their way home)....

rejections

I'm in one of the rejected camps, and I think the placement team has a lot of explaining to do to justify this jump in the number of rejects. Why can't they just allocate more space for theme camps? Or create a new category for the rejects, to at least give us 1 day early access to find a spot in th...
