Thanks Doc! I thought this all went away when they rebranded. I didn't go last year and the year before I booked at Circus Circus for some reason.

It was still there Tuesday at 7am when I drove out.
And "gifting" something to the playa is absolutely unacceptable. I agree with the above post about entitlement. It probably went to the dump.

FREE - two pieces of billboard
Hello! Free for pick up in Ben Lomond (Santa Cruz county, CA). Two pieces of billboard cut to the size of a costco carport floor. I have a pack of unopened grommets you can have with them if you want to ensure you can use the billboard over and over and secure to the playa. Must pickup, too heavy an...

Re: Should I go for presale?
I'm in the same predicament. Sadly I'm going to be in an area with unreliable internet for the main sale so thought of FOMO. I can afford it but also have a backup plan. So my question is more about STEP - can I sell my FOMO tickets back (at face value) there? I notice that there's no info on STEP ...

It came onto the playa in three pieces, why can't it leave that way again? This whole thing is a shitshow.
But the memes are funny. so. there is that.

Monday or Tuesday morning after the burn, I was enjoying a cup of coffee with death B4 decaf and a nice older man walked up and asked if we still had coffee. Yes. He got himself a cup and found a seat. He told us he was with Ethenos and had been having a marvelous burn. He told me about the talks th...

Quick question: For 1/2" x 14" or 1/2" x 18" lag screws, what kind of wired impact driver should I get? How much torque will I need? Our camp has about 8 carports and 3 yurts that need securing, and I'm looking to get rid of all our rebar. Thanks! David I used 1/2 by 16 inch Lags to secure my flat ...

My friend bought a burning-FI thingie and it didn't work. At all.
No idea if she is asking for or will receive a refund. She needed to check emails and had to run around and find a working wi-fi.

Figjam. Where were you camped this year? I should have gone to find you. I ended up using ratchet straps because the mule tape and knots scared me.

Regarding chain links...that's what I use. It was the easiest thing in the world and I made bin of them, more than I'll need. I would just clamp a link sideways in a vise, then with a few strokes of a sharp hacksaw make a cut through one side of the link. Then with pliers twist the link along the a...

Started packing camp at 9am Tuesday the 4th. Finished at 2pm and departed camp at 3:45 & C. Hit the pavement at 2:50pm. Stopped just south of Gerlach for a road closure due to fire 8 miles south of Empire. Pulsed a few times then open road. Landed at the Peppermill in Reno at 6:07pm. Four hours from...

I met MyLarry at the M&G a few years ago. He helped me find the snacks and a beer. I knew him mostly from the stories AntiM shared about her amazing sweet devoted hubby. I am so sorry we lost this gentle soul. big hugs.

Re: New Vehicle with no license plates
A few years back I bought a used van. The auto dealer put one of their ads over the plate and I had the paper reg taped in the window. I found out later that the plate had expired months before but of course it didn't matter because I had paid the reg to the dealer when I bought it. Fast forward 3 ...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...
I used mule tape with a water knot to form a loop, and then I put the loop through itself around the lag screw which would tighten down to form a loop I could tie off to. So it's basically just replacing the chain, and then I tie down to the mule tape loop. This way you can also re-tighten easily w...

Nice, but pricey. I do the mule-tape, water knot and flat washer method. And that site looks cheaper than Amazon. Is the water knot more secure than a square? I did a test run of my shade mule tape this weekend, and I am not feeling confident at all with mule loops. Thinking about running out to HD...

Re: 2018 One item a day for BM list
Friday I spent one hour and 46 minutes at the DMV to get my tags that expire on 8/31/18. When I told the supervisor that I couldn't register online or at a kiosk, she had to check herself. Finally let me stand in a loooooong line to get my tags. No idea why my registration was flagged, but it was. Y...

After searching for a good priced canvas drop cloth, I found used billboard vinyl and I am going with that for the public spaces. I don't think it will be as light as canvas, but I hope it lasts a few years!

Re: What is your floor?
I just ordered a big piece of used billboard vinyl that I can cut into two pieces to use in our public spaces (two 10x20 carports). It was much cheaper to buy one long piece and then cut it. But my question is this: Do I need grommets? Or should I duct tape all the edges? I don't want it to fray and...

I have a ticket but I have friends of course looking that were not able to get a DGS code, missed out in the main sale and OMG sale. They are not able to afford the presales. I am finding fewer $425 tickets overall - all the people reselling have keyed in on the fact that you don't really know if it...

The more we facilitate people being able to attend and not take care of their own shit, the more of this we create. Why the hell do people choose to fly to an event unable to carry in and out all their shit, to an event where that’s what you need to do? It's a fabulous question. I think the cat is ...

Re: Camping cooking equipment rental in Reno?
I think things that go to the playa generally are only used again on the playa, so you won't find many that want to send camping gear out there. That being said - maybe playa pads has something? might be overkill for your needs, but they do have a basic set up.

Check out playa pads. A search on google will pull it up. Burners with an outfit in Reno that rents the basics. Looks like it all fits in a standard sized rental. Includes bikes. I think this could be a great option for you. They take the stuff back after you've used it and recycle it for another bu...
