Welp, it's coming up on four days and no nibbles. Most folks who have replied seem to be under the misapprehension that I was looking for ways to use the disk. Guys, it was $16, something like 2% of what a ticket and gasoline to get to TTITD would be, not counting the VP or other supplies. My mindse...

Re: Any region B fans of Ghost in the Shell?

Sorry, you should report to the thread about ancient technology :D Nobody watches a movie from a local device, all goes streaming. Humph! I still have DVD-Netflix in addition to their streaming service, and find typically in my 30-movie queue only one or two tagged, "Watch Now." How do I stream the...

Re: PSA: Murder on 447 - Kill The Rabbit!

It's funny, but for seven years, I'd leave the playa for home about 2am on Tuesday or later in the week and I never squashed one rabbit. Then the eighth year, south of Gerlach they showed up in droves. I got to about 25 before I lost count, well before Nixon.

Any region B fans of Ghost in the Shell?

In April I ordered a Blu-ray copy of GITS, Solid State Society https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXN6U4C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00? from Amazon and let it sit on the shelf for a while. When I finally opened it, I discovered that it is region B and unplayable on my North American player. I sup...

Years ago when I was an activist for the Libertarian party, we made a concerted effort to steer the NRA from being a conservative organization to one concentrating on -- you know -- gun rights. We utterly failed. I am in the process of doubling my ammunition stash for use when the make Trump preside...

Re: "Burning Man's Culture is in Danger"

There was also a time when the rave was two miles out in open playa, far away from the effigy, but that was decades ago and the time machine is all broken. IIRC, the two injuries at the 1996 burn that helped prompt the BLM's stern gaze and the move off-playa in 1997 were caused by somebody speeding...

I tried the ravioli once. I went in ravenous because I was given to understand it was a generous portion. I got only five -- five really big ones; I ground to a halt about half-way through the last one.

Re: "Burning Man's Culture is in Danger"

I'm not as dusty as some of the posters in this thread, but every year since I was first to TTITD in 2009, it's been about 40% virgins. Somehow we've managed to survive and thrive this annual influx of the clueless. Now, since we went "mainstream culture" in 2012 this might have become more difficul...

Good luck - don't let me discourage you. But for your own sake, spend your first year experiencing and surviving the playa without trying to do too much. You only get one first year, and if it is right for you, you can come back bigger and better the next year. Golden words of wisdom. Unless you pa...

$40 a head?

That's what the BLM seems to figure the policing we need costs (for 2015). And that's without Choco Tacos.

The Org, of course, is objecting.

That's the bed the Californian state legislature made under the guise of trying to help the environment by promoting recycling, while no doubt skimming off the top when recycled goods don't get redeemed. Now they get to sleep in that bed. This is what happens when one creates a (publicly) subsidize...
