Re: Has there ever been a Catholic Mass on the playa?
I don't know about mass, but if a Catholic priest showed up he'd be busy all week just hearing confessions.

Hi Karine! Hope life is treating you well! Hayden: Sorry I haven't checked back sooner. This year will be my 7th Burning Man. I try to take a different route each year; I figured out there's a bunch of America to see between Oklahoma and the playa. This year, I'll be coming back by way of Idaho and ...

I drove Hwy 50 back in 2004, and it was a unique experience.

Howdy! For Tulsa-area folks, a good start is to check out http://www.midwestburners.com/ --they sponsor regional events up in Missouri. A little closer to home is http://www.okburners.com/ . I also have my trip reports to Burning Man on my website at http://www.burningclam.com/

There's one way out of Burning Man that never bottlenecks: the airport. Somebody with a little land along Hwy. 447 (like maybe the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation) could build a landing strip and start up an air shuttle service. It could ferry people on and off the playa by air. The service could ch...

A couple of years ago, I lost my Swiss Army knife somewhere on the playa. I'd carried that thing for years. It was a gift, and meant a lot to me. During the Exodus, a stranger passing by just handed me a pocket knife! He said I looked like I needed one, and then he disappeared. It still amazes me to...

My first year, I brought a bunch of army MRE's to eat. First thing I learned was that the altitude of the playa took them longer to cook--about 20 minutes instead of 12-15. The second thing I learned was that MRE's aren't supposed to be delicious or filling-- they're designed to give you just enough...

One of the problems with Exodus in 2006 was the limited number of licensed state flaggers. The state of Nevada requires that anybody out on the road directing traffic is trained and licensed to direct traffic properly and safely. Everyone working Exodus was required to be licensed. There were only s...

Self-portraits 2005
At last year's burn, there was a guy going around with pads of paper and colored pencils. He was asking people to draw their self-portraits, which would be posted later at his camp. I never got the name of his camp-- what happened to the portraits? Were they burned at the Temple, or what?

How about this. The organizers can designate a single street for photographers. If you want to photograph the CT parade you line up on that street. Now if you DON"T want your photo taken you go down the alternate NON-PHOTOGRAPHER street. The parade will then converge at the end of non-photographer ...

In regards to getting permission before taking pictures of people: it should be pointed out that when TV networks broadcast professional sporting events and, in between plays, turn their cameras on the folks in the stands, the networks don't bother of handing out thousands of release forms before sh...

It had histories and temp and wind speed, so you could actually look these things up - only my bookmarked link is dead. Does anybody know what happened to this?
