last year, chuck made this awesome swamp cooler that used no drip system at all, just a superefficient wicking material set with it's bottom end in a reservoir of water. The wicking membrane was something from a humidifier. It wicked well enough that the water drew up into the membrane on its own. I...

Can we look at things from the point of view, "the greatest good for the greatest number?" Most of the folks who go to the burn are adults. Most of the activities and art are intended for an adult perspective. A kid getting traumatized or hurt by all the stuff they don't understand that happens at t...

Hmmmmm.... @southcoaster: Ok from what I know, fridges pull a fair amount of power. I think for a mini fridge something like 150-200w, for a fullsize fridge something like 400-500w. That's a lot for pulling off a battery. A lot. So if you have to run that all the time, your best bet might be either ...

does anyone know where I can find the tourist information center on playa? And I've heard the food court is a good place to find a reasonably priced licensed tour guide. I've heard the tour guides can really be a ripoff. I've budgeted a decent amount of money for a good tour guide, but itll only wor...

on top of the last post- and shave by feel. Shave it blind, methodically, then run your fingertips around finding the rough bits. And use a damp cloth to wipe off whatever your razor didn't get. Two small bowls of water. One for initial wash and razor dipping, one for cleaning your rinse cloth. I do...

Make a ring with your vehicles and think security. That kind of makes it sound like they're coming in heavy in large numbers. Like defending against a zombie barbarian horde. But seriously, you like to make a perimeter wall with your vehicles parked tightly together? keeps people from coming in fro...
