2009 was my first burn and it was glorious. But it was a mostly solitary experience, I didn't volunteer enough and wasn't social enough. I want to change that in 2010.

Nice
I sent this to several friends (who haven't been) with the accompanying note: this doesn't capture it, but it comes the closest.
Nicely done.

Nice
I couldn't stay for more than an hour in the afternoon, and it was ony a pale shadow of the real thing, but still -- it gave me a nice memory pang. Thanks LA Decom.

Sculpture?
2009 was my first burn and it was glorious.
A friend and I were brainstorming things to do at next year's burn, and I thought -- what if we went around collecting trash -- at the fence, etc -- and made some sort of real-time sculpture from it? Done by Saturday. Then burned!

I particularly like the weird up-angle of the man.

Recommendations -- pee bottle?
I think it might help -- and I think I've read about it here on the boards, but I can't find it now -- to have a small bottle I can pee into n the middle of the night. (Which I can then go empty into the port-a-potty later.) Anybody do this? Any good suggestions for how to do it? Thanks so much ever...

I'll try all three
Greeters -- makes me nervous because I know very little about BRC. But if it's the newbie thing to do, I'll do it!
Ice sales -- sounds likes a greta way to help out and cool off at the same time.
Lamplighters -- sounds hot, meditative, quasi-religious. I'm there!
Thanks you all!

Great list.
I'm coming for the first time and have been reading the boards obsessively, but this list is great to have nonetheless.
Thanks!
Now I only have a couple of days to work on gifts.

Where should I volunteer?
Because I only recently decided to attend, I didn't sign up to volunteer. Can I find places to volunteer once I get there? I'd like to chip in, meet people, etc. I must admit I'm a little leery of physical labor in the hot midday sun, but I'll do whatever I guess. I have no skills other than a smile...

Ice Sales -- How big are the ice bags?
Or is it even sold in bags?
I'm wondering how I can buy ice and get it back to my little (individual) campsite with my bike, which really only has a small carrying bag above the rear wheel. Big enough to fit my roller blades, but that's it.
Any advice anyone? Thanks so much!

Hey Slutsy Goat -- can't wait to check out Club Horny. ("Hor-nay") I think I'll be OK with some sponge baths, the occasional minimal shower on a large tarp. Maybe I'll chase the truck once or so. The carcass wash sounds great and convenient. But I if I understand it correctly -- there's lots of wate...

Alternative to Rebar?
So I went to Home Despot and checked out the rebar. It comes in 10 foot lengths. When I asked the guy if they could cut it for me, he grunted in the negative. Although I understand "radical self-reliance" the idea of cutting 12 rebar stakes filled my arm with pain. I could also buy some huge 1/2" by...

OK Next Stupid Question: sponge baths?
I've done a ton of reading about showers and was freaking out a little about having to build one, etc. But one guy on another long-ass thread about showers advocated the frequent sponge bath -- just stand on a tarp, use a few cups of water to get wet, lather up, then a few more cups to rinse off. Th...

Showering nude?
I've seen a lot of posts about showers with enclosures. I think I know the answer to this question, but I'll ask it anyway. I plan to bring a very simple shower that I can hang on my roof rack. (Still working on some sort of water catching/evaporating deal.) I thought I would just shower nude -- I d...

and btw, I do subscribe to JackRobbit speaks.
I guess I'll just arrive on Tuesday and look around, say hi to a few people, and pitch my tent.
Still working on figuring out a shade structure.

Camping Spot Question (from a newbie)
Hi Everyone, Totoro here. I'm a newbie, age 49, coming alone, need to clear my head and get away for a bit. And sweat. I've done a TON of reading here at ePlaya and on the BM site. But I still have questions! I thank you in advance for your patience and the gift of your advice. I'll keep different q...

Totoro coming for the first time! Age 49!
Hopng to have a great time. Not sure how to volunteer my time. I'll play a little ukulele, that's about all I have to offer.
I have a million questions. I'll try to winnow that down before I start asking!
