@trilobyte
no, not "someday" -
"right now, in August, and bring it to playa to share at 8:30/C".
But you're right, or course.
I see it.

Re: Researching the history of 8:30/C
@Token I hear you. It is indeed an imperfectly phrased request. There is also a bit of a language barrier. My primary language isn't English. But, most importantly, posting research to wiki is an idea, which naturally wouldn't have occured to me. I'm so used to doing everything in ink. Thank you. Ju...

Researching the history of 8:30/C
Dearest neighbors, I want to gather some historical perspective on our corner at 8:30/C. Everything I find, I will present in form of a book, and this will be the first history book in the Menagerie Village library. l intend to thoroughly dig through archives for obvious information, like what the C...

Re: Last minute place to buy lights for walking, biking?
You can cut it. The leftover cut-away orphaned piece will work with another power supply, but it's not an easy thing to solder that joint properly. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a shorter lenght? Or double-triple-quadruple wrap all of the wire's length around your backpack? :) Lastly, make sure to o...

Re: End a Camping Situation Without Losing Friends
Speak up now, don't wait any longer. Friends are the people you're not afraid to resolve issues with, even when it explicitly entails an initial fight and lots of unnecessary, uncalled for verbal crap being thrown. Friends value each other's money and emotional health. Worst case scenario you will f...

To Boyscout girl -
I got vital information I would've otherwise spent hours looking for, just by asking. Ultimately, the tone in which responses are posted doesn't matter. It's the information itself that matters
So cussy or not cussy, I'm still listening

Re: Looking for videos of dust storms and accidents
I'm well aware of the dangers presented by strong winds and flimsy structures (even without witnessing such accidents). Have no concern, this issue will be worked out

Re: Looking for videos of dust storms and accidents
What I've seen was humbling enough to know I haven't seen it that bad either, I agree. But this so-called "kitchen" would be my kitchen as well. I have neither the tools nor skills to solidify this so-called kitchen. The disbelieving friends are actually capable of altering the structure so that it ...

Looking for videos of dust storms and accidents
Do you guys know of any good videos that clearly and explicitly demonstrate how powerful winds on the playa can be, and how structures, seemingly sturdy and well secured, get torn out, collapse on themselves and fly away? My friends have only been to the burning man once, last year, and now it's imp...

Re: Portland Oregon area theme camp
[email protected] sounds like "change of scenery" enough to me! Ask if there's still a smidgen of space for us to lay our footprint next to yours? We're self sufficient enough to be a stand alone camp (have been, after all, for 3 years). We don't need to be fed, won't moop, or do anything completely retarded (I d...

Re: Portland Oregon area theme camp
I'm from Portland and I'll be bringing a small non-placed non-theme camp. There's about 10 people in my group, most have been to the burn at least once (this will be my 4th year). We can be neighbors if you want. In the previous years, we've camped in reasonable Center Camp proximity (inner alphabet...

Upright pianos
2010 seemed to be a very piano-fruitful year at BRC. I saw them at several street corners, they seemed to be popping up everywhere like mushrooms after an August rain
Then, in 2011, there were barely any.
Which camps are bringing pianos this year? Where will these camps be placed?

Re: Last minute place to buy lights for walking, biking?
There will be a couple of tents set up by the locals in Gerlach/Empire right along your route to the City, about 9 or so miles from BRC. Never bought from them, so I don't know their prices, but they do sell EL, and LED strings.

Re: BOUNCE bus
I vaguely remember 2 decks, maybe there was 3? Also, a huge BOUNCE sign (individual letters, all different sizes and fonts, and different colors, looked to be made of plywood), and they were circling outer playa at sunrise one of the last mornings (either sunday or monday). Their music was warm, hap...

The Bounce Bus from last year... is it coming back this year?

A few instances of awesome-o mewsic!
* Saturday night after the Man burn, somewhere around 4:30 and Esplanade there was a live band playing tributes to Jimi Hendrix (among other things). I'm hoping to find out who they were. * Sunday at sunrise on our way from the sunrise bar to the city, the Bounce bus drove by... who was DJing at the...

Spinning yarn at BM 2011
I was wondering if anyone's made plans to bring their drop spindle to the playa and spin some yarn over a cup of tea or a glass of infused tequila? I'm fairly new to spinning, so I'd appreciate if a seasoned spinner would give me some tips/advice. But I've also outgrown my first spindle, so I'd be g...

The "title page" of the slideshow compilation, will be a legit-looking Oregon license plate "GOSHAMAN", cuz the guy's name is Gosha, and in our group of friends he goes by nickname "Shaman" :) But it would be so cool to enhance the license plate repertoire with a good-quality prank, unfortunately, t...
