I've used chutes in the past, but they don't block out the sun at all, hence tarps end up being used. Sorta ugly though, but works. You need the bottom open a bit to let air flow through during the day. This year is supposed to dusty, so remember that in your design.

Thanks for the response

Maybe 2'x8' or 4'x4'. Basically trying to get 4 2'x2' pieces. Thickness needs to a bit larger than 1/4". Thanks for any leads you might have, especially the cost effective ones.

How about ESD bags (i.e. bags for computer stuff)

The other day I ran one of these bags through a sewing mecahine and it took pretty well. They are not as reflective as mylar but still has a silvery look to it. I thougth of making a costume, but I know they won't breath very well. I have a shitload of these, definitely enough to cover your body. If...

Alright, we used Envirotex Lite. The depth of the pour was about 1 inch or so, and took a while to dry. Works great though. Purchased at Home Depot

It's not 2 part epoxy. I can't remember the name of the stuff, but I'll look in my storage unit. My roommate did something similar but with flower petals. She arranged flowers into the top of a table and then poured in this stuff. You can buy it in buckets at home depot. Just pour it in and it sets....

Yeah I have sleep apnea too. I don't use a cpap though. My airways get clogged up anyway from the dust. Stanford Sleep Center considered me to be a person who critically needs one. Do you think you can make it for a week without one? If not, get a small quiet Honda generator. Read some threads on mu...

Last year was bad for me. I got so little sleep. It is crucial to have some type of shade over your sleeping area. Tent material does not block the sun. You also want ventilation for the desert breeze. In teh 8 days that I was there last year, I probably slept less than 2 hours a day. I strongly rec...

Hey Griffin, Mike here from Cult of Distraction (think big Asian). You know I suggest ideas like multi-cooler systems and showers similar to those in previous camps I've ran. Often scoffed until we get to BRC. This year will be different for COD. I think some people don't realize the amount of energ...

Slightly off topic. I run an open bar at BM. I remember last year around 9am serving some drinks, and then realizing later that my last patrons were probably 15 or so. I was just ending my shift, so I was a bit, um, out of fricken mind. Is that something I should worry about. (i.e. serving underage)...

If you had to choose between the first or second half of the week, I would come for the latter. Especially if this is your first year. Watching the city build is a great thing, but not as meaningful if you are not there to see fully transform. If you have the means, stay for the entire week. I usual...

I guess you must be used to hearing that. Personally, I think there are better words out there to chose from.

Ditto on the meat supplies in the previous post. I also bring a balanced menu for vegans/vegetarians. Dinner is usually the largest meal, followed breakfast and lunch. For lunch we usually do meals like sandwiches or a light pasta. Maybe some fruit sides. Breakfast is usually the same: Scrambles, om...

Bike or no bike. The experience is completely different. I cannot say one is better than the other, just different. I did 2 years with, 2 years without. Damn my feet got worked. Sometimes the little details you see on foot are so amazing compared to riding your bike to get drinks at a duck bar way t...
