24 hour gas station
What is the closest 24 hour gas station on the way from the playa to reno?
I want to make sure the RV has enough gas to get there on the way back.

I'd like to bring my GF to the regionals, if only because she wouldn't complain about so much time apart.
She's not outdoorsy, but is generally pretty self reliant. I have a hard time seeing how someone could NOT have a good time, especially at the regionals, which are a kinder, gentler sort of burn.

In the event of apocalypse..
In the event of the apocalypse I can't think of people I'd rather be around than burners. But the playa can't support life on an ongoing basis. If society collapses, there should be pre-specified place to meet up. Criteria: Not too close to a major city, not downriver or downwind from one. Potable w...

The things you like most about burner culture
For me 1) Lack of halfassery. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. I was at preheat, they constructed a big oven thing for the burn. When I asked if it was sound enough for my 300+ lb(at the time) ass to walk around on, the response was "yea, it's fine." And it was. 2)Openness. This needs no...

Been looking into similar question. Below is what I came up with. These things look pretty cool.. sturdy(ish), light, and modular. http://shelsys.com/ You could also do a big monkey hut like this guy. One of the 20x20 sections would suffice. http://www.toad.com/gnu/clifs-shade-structure.html You kn...

Let's talk backpacks
So I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PKV6XE/ref=ox_ya_os_product but may end up returning it-it's so damn small! Someone recommended this http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/DAK0769/DAKINE-Heli-Pro-20L-Winter-Pack-1200cu-in.html but it's apparently not made for tall people. I'm 6...

There is!
It's called Afterburn, and it's held at Maddox Ranch, outside of Lakeland, Florida.

You'd need to buy your ticket ASAP.

I'M GOING TO BURNING MAN
I just wanted to say hi to all the other burners, ravers, hippies, punks, and whatever else! I've been to some of the regional burns, and had an amazing time.. I just reserved my RV(I know, boo, RV, bad form!) AND I'M GOING TO BURNING MAN! Looking forward to seeing all of you on the playa next year!...
