Re: How much do YOU spend on Burning Man?
I think the nice thing about repeat journeys to BRC is that after the first time (if you dive all the way in and build a shade structure, buy coolers and water jugs and camelbaks and all that shit, like I did) it costs significantly less. So now all I have to spend money on is ticket, travel and foo...

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
I really like the idea of them pulling people at their top tier first. It is a really thoughtful way to do that. I hope its the case. Also, CONGRATS TO EVERYONE who has gotten tickets so far and will get tickets! So exciting!
Hope to see you on the playa!

This week we set up our shade structure, finished modding and decorating goggles, tested out the cook stove and how long it took water to boil for reheating foods, patched up sleeping bag holes and zippers, tested the solar powered stuff, learned we need more than one mallet so we can have more than...

Rode my bike for all my errands today, and then through the park near my house. I'm going to start riding every day to get my muscled ready. I realized I was really out of practice on a bike. Played with new poi tricks all evening and laughed incredibly hard when my boyfriend hit himself in the junk...

Whoa, you sound like parallel universe me. I, too am driving to SF with my boyfriend to pick up a friend, then off to BRC. However, we are coming from GA. We have been smart enough to ship most things to SF and we are planning on renting a cargo van here to fit everything in. Especially after readin...

Today I realized that due to financial cut backs from my father passing soon (2-3 weeks) I have to go with the bare minimum to BM. It's my first year, and I think I really need something to look forward to right now, so I kinda stubbornly refuse to give up Burning Man. I've dealt with way too much i...

Awesome to know about the Thursday birthday! One of my best friends is coming this year and it overlaps her birthday, as well. We are all new to the playa, and usually hit up DragonCon for her birthday, so I have been trying to figure out special things to do for her. She is one of the nicest most g...

Hmm, I'm still torn. I suppose it'll come down to travel space. I'd rather not bend them over the car, as I'm attached to this car. It isn't going to the playa, its going to Cali where our 3rd campmate will join us, we change cars and head to the playa. Thank you all for your MLH advice. If you have...

woot.com has been rotating through specials on very Burning Man awesome stuff, in addition to stupid tvs and computers. Got a Womens Trinity Camelbak in gray/silver for $35. Not refurbished, brand new. Normally $100. I recommend keeping an eye out for this to pop up again. When they have "woot-offs"...

Is it possible to order replacement poles that are more heavy duty by just ordering based on length? Its a pretty sturdy tent when its all set up and I've never had a single problem. Been camping in many storms, some of which were quite windy. Plus the size and lack of screen at the top are pretty a...

Monkey Love Hut PVC...to cut or not to cut?
The shade we bought supplies for is the Monkey Love Hut. If you cut the PVC, does it compromise the structure? Any ideas how to haul them out in one piece?

Looking to bring a shade structure (and rest of stuff) from GA. I drive a Celica and cannot rent a car as I'm only 23. I'm looking to find a flatbed or some such to trail behind me, but I'm not sure where to get one for cheapish, or alternate options. The shade we bought supplies for is the Monkey L...

My best friend in the whole world wants to come with me but the short of it is: He can't stand heat - gets ornery and becomes a real ass He doesn't like the outdoors that much He doesn't like lots of people He likes to be able to retreat and you can't do that at BM He always ditches at the last poss...
