Man you guys look like you're having fun! And I can tell stuff is getting done. But only by looking in the background. Show us more! Wider shots! Let's see how this sucker is coming along.

Re: Art Car Storage in the Bay Area
Have you talked to Snook about storing it up and out of the way inside? I've seen a few cars stored that way over the years. Might be a price break for that.

Free stuff Futons/rugs/ pillows
I don't have a ticket for this year. And our camp has fallen apart. So I have some gear that I'm wanting to gift. I have two futons with mattresses. One is metal and the other is wood. Both work great. Metal one comes apart quickly with bolts. (might be missing one or two bolts). Both cushions are p...

Let's get some more love for this project on Kickstarter. Give til it hurts. You'll appreciate it even more if you helped get it there.

Re: 2012 Millennium Falcon
I applaud you for your vision. Looks awesome! But your engineering leaves something to be desired. A golf cart has a centrifugal clutch and will not pull that load. It probably couldn't pull the Milleniun trailer(built to support 40-50 people) empty. You'll need at least a small pick up truck/suv or...

Re: Some dysfunctions this year
I'm conflicted on how to respond to the original post comment. Part of me thinks your comment was kind of bitchy. I'm guessing you probably have never brought any art to the Playa. Burning Man is a cruel mistress. It seems so far away in December when you're planning your art project. Even in June w...

Re: What turns you off/on about DJs at Burning Man?
I don't spend a lot of time at the dance camps. (I prefer to drive around and see a little of everything.) But I can tell you that the thing that always pumps me is some recognizable clip or beat or lyric. We happened to be near Roots when Bohemian Rhapsody came on and we couldn't help but be drawn ...

How to sell a mutant vehicle
I know that Eplaya is a no commerce zone. And I read bunch of threads discussing why it should or shouldn't be allowed here. And I don't wish to ruffle any feathers. So my question is. If you had a larger mutant vehicle. Where would you advertise it for sale? Where, besides Craigslist, has such a hi...

I'd recommend a pick up truck vehicle with a full frame. Once you start cutting the roof off a car without a frame you might see some bowing. I've seen the back broken on a small car MV to the point that it was touching the ground in the middle. We used a 92 Ford Explorer. Cheap, plentiful, strong, ...

Here's my experience. For two years our group brought a Yamaha G2 (I think) gas powered golf based mutant vehicle. We left the structure of the golf cart original because it was borrowed. The mutated part was a steel frame that went over the cart that increased the seating from 2 to 6. To support th...

My wife is a Mutant Vehicle widow
Our small group of four (my wife and I and another couple) have" been working on our mutant vehicle since Nov. Lots of work and still lots to do. I can't seem to stop thinking about it. Always trying to solve problems and get projects done. Not...enough...time. I'm a lot more in to it than my wife. ...

Thanks for all the advice. I was hoping for a secret workaround. But it seems clear that 80 is the way to go for me. I've got all the coolers and fans required. Just going to do a little routine maintenance. And I'm going to have to resist the urge to stand on the skinny pedal. I think I'll try to t...

How RV friendly is the Redding->Alturas->Playa drive?
Our group is coming from the Bay Area. We've got an older 34 foot rv and we'll be towing a double axle trailer with a mutant vehicle that's probably as heavy as a full-sized SUV. We're four people with all of the necessary gear for a week. I've driven the south entrance through Reno a number of time...

Mutant vehicle/art car event insurance?
I've brought a heavily modified golf cart mutant vehicle for the last three years. It was so small I wasn't too worried about doing much damage with it. But this year I'm hoping to bring a mutant based on a large SUV. It will have lots more potential for harm. Do any of the Captains of mutant vehicl...

I love your enthusiasm with this. The Playa is cruel. Keep it simple. And be careful with centrifugal clutches. They can be a problem is there's too much weight. BTW a diesel/electric hybrid works well for subs and locomotive because electric motors do not need gearboxes. Could you imagine shifting ...

Bikes. Bikes. Bikes! And don't be afraid to ask for help from your neighbors. Some of the best things that have happened to me and my camp at BM have happened when we had to ask for help (flat tire on mutant vehicle) or helped others (food, car repair). And don't forget to bring a bike. The Playa is...

I honestly have a problem even remembering there is a radio station. My fault. Not theirs. But I was thinking of more of a wifi thing. I would guess that most of the dance camps and probably 50% of the large mutant vehicles are running their music from laptops. Laptops already have wifi. So there wo...

Anybody like the idea of synchronized music?
I'm a big fan of the Mutant Vehicles on the Playa. I even brought one my virgin year. The Perambulator. This year I'm making a bigger and better one for my 4th trip out. I had an idea that may be counter to the concept of the individual at BM. But I thought I'd suggest it anyway. With all the tech a...
