RV rentals-has anyone used Adventure America?
Hey, I'm looking to rent a trailer or RV for BM 2011. I am wondering if anyone can let me know if they have used Adventure America and if they were happy with service, etc. Any information would be awesome. Thanks!

How bad does the playa eat up your car engine?
I went to U-Haul this morning to talk to them about renting a vehicle. I gave them the dates and they quickly asked (with a furrowed brow), "Are you going to Burning Man?" Since I am a 49-year-old very innocent looking woman, I acted shocked and said, "What? Why would you ask that?" They proceeded t...

Thanks Boijoy, good information. I am looking for something with some room inside so I can set up my craft and clothing stations inside. It was suggested on the company's website to use duct tape to seal the doors (except one) and to use a tarp floor that you tape also. Do you think this would work?...

Geodesic dome purchase, good company?
I am attending for the third time this year. The first two years I was lucky enough to have an RV. This year I'm on my own and looking for a geodesic dome. Does anyone have experience with the company System Shelters and their product the Playadome? I am looking to purchase the 18' dome, but want to...

Fiberglass body for mutant vehicle
We have a mutant vehicle underway and we're considering using fiberglass for the main body of the spaceship. We've got a metal frame welded onto a golf cart already in the basic shape. Anyone with expericene making a mutant with fiberglass? Any advice? Comments? Thanks!

I don't think it will take long. It's configuring a metal frame around a golf cart that will eventually become a spaceship. Since I have your ear, can you weld to the metal body or do you need to weld to the frame of the cart for stability? It doesn't need to hold tons of weight as I'm using fairly ...

Hey NinjaThat. I am in Sacramento. Looking for a welder to help with my mutant vehicle. No flame effects, but need help with fashioning a frame around my base golf cart to get started with the project. It's going to be a space ship with an alien. Just got my application through the DMV and I'm very ...

Looking for welder to help with Mutant Vehicle in Sacramento
I received my invitation to bring my Mutant Vehicle to BM 2010! Got the base vehilce in my garage and I'm itching to get started. Only issue is that I need some assistance from someone with welding skills to help me fashion a simple frame. Any welder in the Sacramento region feeling creative and wan...

If you figure out how to "minimize the dust" let us know. I don't think it's possible. The stuff is different from anything I've ever seen before, and the 80 mph winds don't help. However, braving a dust storm is one of the coolest things I've ever done! I recently got out a suitcase that I took to ...

No worries about anything, that's what's so great about BM. The wonderful thing is, when you're there you can decide for yourself. Now, of course, the only way this is possible is because we all come from the "default" world where we are based. Being at BM means no rules (for the most part) because ...

Th3dougler, I can't help but put in my 2 cents here since my first burn was 2009. It sounds like you're the analytical type (me too). I will tell you that trying to "figure out" Burning Man before attending won't work. When we first got there the woman at the front gate said, "It's not what you thin...

Sorry, Captain, it's not a huge red pumping heart that squirts blood (however that sounds totally awesome)! I got my base vehicle delivered (1993 ezgo golf cart) off craigslist yesterday. As I was counting out the money into the seller's hand I wondered if I'd gone totally insane. Then I realized th...

If 1/5 of all applications are denied, then 4/5 are accepted, which sounds like pretty good odds to me! I trust the DMV is doing their best to make sure all vehicles are safe, visually stimulating and/or participatory. Are there any DMV folks out there who could comment on the transport necessity of...

Hey, thanks for the info on the go cart and the need to alter it to fit the playa regarding speed, etc. I'm thinking of going with a gas golf cart instead, maybe this is a better idea? I want to do the design of the "top side" and I know I need to pay attention to the "bottom side" because it's pret...

Okay to use go cart base as mutant vehicle?
Is it okay to use a go cart art (dune buggy) as a base for Mutant Vehicle if it looks nothing like a go-kart when it's finished? Or is this base frowned upon?
Thanks for any input!

American Speedster PVC quadcycle - do they work on playa?
We're planning to make an American Speedster PVC quadricycle for BM 2010. I've only used a "regular" bike on the playa. Does anyone have advice or experience with this PVC 4-wheeler? How does it handle? Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks! :D
