We spent about $2,000 for a family of 4 to go last year, BUT we already owned pretty much all the camping gear (we're regular campers). The $2,000 was for: Tickets Paying for rental space on a truck to bring some of our bigger stuff/teepee poles/bikes to the Playa. Food Drinks Gas Restaurants and sn...

Plan for the whole time, but have a back-up plan in case things fall apart. Allow yourself some downtime during the week - time to just chill out at camp and relax. This is the hardest part by far, since there's so much to see and do you'll want to force yourself to keep on going and going. We made ...

Baby wipes every day, then every 2 or 3 days I do a sponge bath using maybe 1 liter of water. I wash my hair with no rinse shampoo when I do the sponge baths.

And for what it is worth, Kidsville is certainly NOT a no-nudity zone! People might be just a little more modest than in other parts of the city, but there is plenty of nudity to go around.

Not to mention the fact that you need to have kids with you to even camp there in the first place.

Two things quickly:

1. You don't have to join a camp (in fact, it may be preferable not to join one).

2. Not all camps charge fees. It totally depends on how they're set up.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I was able to text while waiting in the 20 MILE long line outside of Gerlach on Sunday night/early Monday morning. That doesn't mean there was cell service at BRC.

And really, I'm glad I could. It whiled away a very long, very boring, inching along night.

Other than the official decompressions, what do you do to decompress? Anything you do every year?

There might be a group of us knitter types, who might already be talking about Yarn Bombing BRC.

Another one that you probably had to be there for. We camped in Kidsville with our 3yr old and 5yr old. One morning my husband stumbles out of our teepee half dressed and half awake. We'd been planning to go for about the last 10 yrs, and finally got out there this year. We had talked about how we'd go this year, and then again in a few years when the kids were old enough to go to Grandma (they came with us this time), and then maybe again a few years after that. Last night we r...

Maybe I'll donate it to the home for Wayward art and let it go home with someone else. Right now I believe it will be on canva...

Walking without lights is actually pretty safe, as long as everyone keep their eyes open and stop rushing. If you're riding a car and a bike and don't trust your eyes, have some lights, but please don't rely on them and end up going faster/blinder than you should. I spent most evenings on a large M...

Yeah, we were at 5:30 and D and the Michael Jackson was a bit annoying. I didn't mind the Art Cars pumping music while driving past too much, but I did get a bit irritated when they stopped and parked and played for an hour or so. If I wanted to camp right next to a sound camp I would have done so.

I wonder if part of the issue is that the well-prepared virgins don't stand out. They kind of just fade into the background / people assume they're NOT virgins because they aren't dumb.
