Re: Hope to Marry at BM

We are happy to report that we will be wed August 27th, before noon. We are grateful to Armadillo and BobO for their help in making this a glorious event for us. Yes, it will be a legal wedding, and we need to pick up the marriage license that I was able to complete on-line and will pick up as we en...

Re: Hope to Marry at BM

Yes, Armidillo at weddings at BM did reply with helpful advice. However, we may be too late to find an ordained minister for our hoped-for wedding date of August 27th. If an ordained minister reads this and is interested in officiating, we are totally flexible on time and location, if we can do that...

Re: Hope to Marry at BM

That is good advice in general BBadger, but my fiance insists on giving herself to me on my birthday. I was actually hoping to do the legal part two weeks earlier, then celebrate at BM. That way she could be under my medical insurance sooner. But she wants to wed at BM. What a loveable romantic!

Re: Hope to Marry at BM

We need an officiant, qualified legally and locally to marry us August 27th. Are there any volunteer ministers willing to help for our happy event? And perhaps someone to video it for our kids to see?

Re: Hope to Marry at BM

Thanks for the information. I'll choose to ignore the warnings, as we are both old enough to know what we want, and that is to enjoy our time with each other (and we do - we're so glad we found each other). An easy option is to have a civil service in MA either before or after BM, and this may be wh...

Hope to Marry at BM

I attended BM in 2010, while my fiance is a virgin in this regard. We have bought tickets, and think it would be delightful if we married at Burning Man, but have found limited information about the legal requirements, and about finding a licensed minister or justice of the peace who can do this off...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

This is not exactly BM, but fits the discussion. I recently divorced a woman who was self-centered and defensive, rarely speaking from her heart. She kept many thoughts and memories secret from me, which is what destroyed our marriage. I resolved to insist on totally open and honest communication in...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

You're forgiven. We all are self-defeating to some extent. I, for example, have often held back due to fear of looking stupid. But I do that less now. We are all stupid. That's my motto. We are all creative geniuses. That's my motto. Maybe a bit of both, and we don't develop unless we give our ideas...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

I call bullshit too! You are willfully wallowing in self-pity. Look up to the light. It is there. You just got some fantastic praise, from someone who was there with you, spent time with you. Someone who found you interesting, the way you are. She smiled at you, so smile back. You are more likeable ...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

I for one feel safer when writing messages. I can look at what I wrote, the delete or add or re-word my statement until my initial blunders are corrected. Then send it. But when talking in person, my blunders can't be taken back. I can only hope that the listener is tolerant (and smart) enough to ex...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

I am a bit shy too, but found it easy to talk to others when helping or gifting. In 2010 I gave away pairs of industrial strength magnets. Not everyone had a use for them and declined, but they did smile at me. Others (okay, nerds like me) were fascinated by the amount of force trapped in the magnet...

Re: motivating at-cost reselling

It might work best if the reselling was done on this site, so all information is available, rather than having people justify their costs (from e*** or whatever) to BM staff.

motivating at-cost reselling - a proposal

If a burner bought a ticket or two, and then cannot attend, there is a temptation to sell tickets above cost (face value plus BM fees, plus selling site fees, plus shipping with signature needed). I see that e*** selling prices are dropping some now. My guess is that is due to hope of obtaining a ti...

Re: Name Change Requests / deadline?

Am I correct in thinking that physical tickets do not need a name change if passed on to another?

want to camp with/near Eastern MA/Cape Cod folks

This is my first time participating, and I would like to make some friends for the future. I live in Eastham, MA, which is on the "forearm" of Cape Cod, which is shaped somewhat like a bent arm. I would appreciate learning the location of camps burners from this area. I am driving a 19' ca...
