Re: Best Tires for Bike

Good ideas all the way around. Thanks. Because I refuse to paint this old friend and trusty steed i have moved on to deciding the best lighting effects which will least interfere with function. Getting a kickstand definitely opens up options for things that stick up high off your bike. Oh, it's fun ...

Re: Best Tires for Bike

Thanks and thanks for the heads up on the kickstand ball. I woulda really felt dumb if I had not done that and my bike sank in slo-me before me.

Best Tires for Bike

Hey all. Last time I came to Burning Man I made a poor bike choice--the cool banana seat kids bike that rules for tooling around town wasn't so great on the playa. In the past i have used a big fat tire cruiser, but don't have one at the moment and will likely bring my beloved 20 year old mountain b...

bacon, speaking of researching the shit out of everything, frankly, that was a lot of fun. I always enjoy the prep for going somewhere new, it's part of the vacation for me. So, the reading up on what we might need, conditions, etc, and the group emails re logistics and obtaining this and that were ...

Another overly prepared newly minted non-virgen. I have SO MANY containers of water--we had friends fly in and so got to keep ALL the extra stuff. I'd rather be over-prepped than under, o/c. Some stuff I will keep till next year or throw in with our general camping supplies, food I do not have room ...

I took a crap ass bike for this reason (and glad I did, cause its pretty trashed), but the OP's suggestion that LEO's treat bike theft as as great a priority as drugs is well taken. They have bait bikes for just this sort of occasion. Of course, your agency does not get as much federal grant $$ to s...

The minimum size to buy the frozen wheatgrass is 100 oz at 1.89 per oz. I like wheatgrass a lot but that's a big investment.

I saw caffeinated beef jerky in the store the other day.

For those of you who have worn chucks, high top or not? I was thinking of wearing low tops with socks (which I would never normally do). Also thinking of getting some fake uggs (I looove my black real uggs and I am not subjecting them to these elements), but I think if I were wearing shorts and the ...

Sticky stuff that doesn't leave residue

I have this fantasy that there is something similar to duct tape that will not leave sticky goo on an RV that has to be returned. I fugure a week of those temp extremes, there might not only be goo, there might be paint coming off or something expensive. Is there any non-goop/vehicle safe tape out t...

From which direction does the prevailing wind come from? I know it can come from any direction, but I do read many posts like the above re positioning structures with the prevailing winds in mind. For some reason, I think most wind comes from the south out there, but I do not know how that got stuck...

Actually, I had assumed that the pull out RV shade would just blow away so was out of the question. We're definitely having fun planning our outdoor space, etc, hoping to make it inviting and easy on the eye. Some kinda decoration for the giant tin can is part of that, but we're seeing it as a backg...

We actually are filthy hippies, hence the novelty of the RV. Especially the part where we get to climb on top of it. Yes, we'll invite the neighbors and offer them cocktails. Thanks for the input, I don't think being inside too much is going to be too tempting for this crew but definitely som...

Oh we definitely have plans to be outside, much enjoyable time, thought, and energy is being put into the construction and decoration of shade structures, art, etc. Looking forward to lazy mornings in the shade watching the world go by and offering strangers coffee. I have never even stayed in an RV...

DO RV's Make Us Bad Burners?

Newbie coming from a place of moisture and humidity with a passel of comrades. We're so looking forward to it, we have enjoyed many festivals and camping outings together and we have always enjoyed entertaining those camping around us with our pyrotechenery and toys. Now we expect to be wowed by a b...
