OP, this is why many of us have clamshells. Not because we said, "hey let's get one", but because we said "hey, what should we do with these orphan parts?".

+1 for chain. One item keep track of/failure point instead of two (washer + chunk of mule tape). ....which raises the question, if you're using mule tape as your guy line, why bother with the little loop? In either case, I'd be concerned about tape abrading over time against a possible sharp washer ...

Re: Tips and Tricks for RV's at Burning Man

Dry wiping everything is SOOO important. After we DRY wipe/sweep/vacuum/whatever I run over everything with a strong leaf blower and follow with an air (compressor) gun for nooks and crannies. Inside and out. Twice. It helps to open all windows and doors and also have a good fan running. Bonus poin...

Re: Storage container as art, placed in deep playa?

You are reading "placed" as "I am going to put it there"? I am reading it as "ARTery assigned it a location ('Placement')". When I spoke to ARTery about on-site art registration a few years ago, they told me I didn't need to bother if I didn't want to be on the map or assigned a spot. It's called R...

Smoke is better than last weekend but comes and goes, depending on winds. Yes. it's dusty. I spent last night under the stars, about...

Zinc coating and galvanizing are the same thing. All the zinc stuff in my yard is rusty. I found this: Galvanized AKA Hot-Dip and Zinc Plating Compared Both processes use zinc coating as protective layer for a substrate/metal -Galvanized plating produces a metal finish that looks dull and has a rou...

That company wasn't on the vendor list last year, so they won't be this year.
The wait at Gate, even on Wed, can be 3+ hours and you'd be charged wait time.
Gate won't let them drop you there.
If you can make it work, great.

I don’t get the fascination with foot-plates and lag-bolts when a simple application of duct tape will be more reliable and easier to deploy. Many people (me) us the foot plate/lag screw to secure our straps in X configurations. Very hands for carports and semi-walled flat top structures. I'll tack...
