Re: Thank yous
Yea, that's what he told me. What a cool gig. They sure do it right. They even keep an estimate of the number of gallons in the mens room. I could just imaging the placement persons face -- when they saw someone that wanted to be placed next to the porta potties. Really, I need to get over to...

Re: Thank yous
Reminds me of a guy I ran into late (second) Monday night. He set up camp in front of the porta potties on 4. He adopted them. They guided us into the cleanest ones. They keep an eye on them and keep them clean. They set up a table outside with four rolls of toilet paper, hand sanatizer, and hand mo...

Re: David's Playa Tips
Nice work David. Yea, that would be south on the compass. I glued a small key chain compass to my bike. Came in handy during a massive white-out once. One more tip for neewbies -- have a contingency plan for needing to pee if you are stuck in a two mile / three hour traffic jam. Remember, traffic ja...

What gives you that One Foot On The Playa feeling?
Just for fun, what gives you that feeling like you have one foot on the playa? For some it is a precompresion. For others it's unpacking from last year and getting playa dust on your hands. For others it's connecting with an old friend. Every year, there is That Moment when you feel it. For me this ...

Re: Burning man in Sunset Magazine
I like the vivid negtive parts of it. The more people we talk out of it the better IMO.
I have talked several people out of going, telling them how much they would probably hate it. I was doing us all a favor. Seriously.
So, what am I not seeing?
Answer: The Magic Rather blunt I suppose. But sometimes less words are more poignant. You may have gone once, but were you really there? Re: RV Windows
Silver bubble wrap rocks. Last year I had good results covering the windows and frames from the outside using 3M 2" blue masking tape around ALL the edges. If you leave even a few inches open then the wind can get under and rip the whole thing off. How did I get the tape to stick with all the dust? ...

Re: deep playa at night
Here are a couple for you but really, the playa will give you what it wants to. One night we were out there quite late and a darkwad guy wanders up. No gear, nothing. He kept saying how he was so thirsty. We had finished our water but I had a clear plastic water bottle with soju in it. Soju is a cle...

Re: Playa Trike: second thoughts
Keep in mind that if your bike has a motor on it (and you can sit on it) then it is a full blown mutant vehicle/art car. All mutant vehicle DMV licensing rules then apply. This is not as bad as you might think. If your goal is to zip right by everyone as fast as possible and make them eat dust -- th...

Re: playa impact on shoes
"Ruin" -- interesting concept. It is intersting to see things through the eyes of a virgin. Become one with the dust. I don't bother to wash the dust off my boots. In fact, looking at my boots right now I can still see discoloration from last years playa dust. Reading your post, and looking at my bo...

Re: Gifts for the playa
I'm bringing a full length lighted mirror for as one gift.
But the best gift I will give is the same one I gave my first virginal night on the playa a few years ago... It's real simple. I just find a project going on, step right up, and ask, "Could you all use some help?"

Re: Playa Trike: second thoughts
Good thinking ahead.
IMHO, rope is so default. So I generally have several silk scarves on board. They can be used for many different purposes -- purposes that are more fun than towing a bike.

Re: Playa Trike: second thoughts
Last year I brought a home made four wheel/two person/three petal mutant bike for the first time. It has a poor turning radius but it wasn't really a problem. You can always do a three (or more) point turn if necessary. Otherwise you can pick up the front end. No problem. Transporting is a space con...

Re: 2012: The Last Burn
I have a theory about how this rumor started: The BLM 5 year Special Recreation Permit from 2006 was extended by only one year. There is talk of having the new five year permit allow for a 20% increase in population. As it stands the permit allows for 50k. It takes time to analyze that kind of chang...

Thanks for magical dance
Thanks to the Hookadome and all the neighbors that put up with it. We loved dancing there. One night we pulled the art car near there and had the most wonderful magical dance of my lifetime. It was one of those special dances where we became one with the music, and the dust, and each other. Flowing ...

Their gig was free bacon. Yes, they would provide bacon to anyone who wanted it, as long as they cooked their own bacon - nude!

Best Gifts - Personal
:D
I plan on bringing gifts, what would most Burners like to receive???? Real music, played on a real musical instrument by ...
