Re: The Bar 2015 Edition

Marty - so glad you are better! I also missed seeing a lot of folks I wanted to see. I went down hard with a norovirus on the Wednesday of the M&G, spewed for a couple of days and had to work really hard to rehydrate.

Re: Small Things Remembered....

I remember some amazing trumpet music coming from the Lamplighters camp well after midnight, that caused me to get dressed and out of my tent to listen. Truly an amazing performer. This reminded me of the bagpiper that was out along the fence line at Greeter's and marched about solemnly playing his...

RV tuned up, tanks dumped, vacuumed, and trailer hooked up. Tonight will start loading the trailer. We will be on our way on Thursday morning. Yes!

Re: How much water do you use? RV camping

So, to fix your anticipated problem of wasting water, be sure to turn off the RV water pump. Only turn it on to fill containers. Use dishwater or cooler melt to flush your toilet - if you leave your pump on, your fresh water will be going down the drain.

Re: Bringing an Unregistered (NONOP) RV Motorhome

If you can't afford to register your vehicle, you probably shouldn't be spending the $ to attend Burning Man. If you are in a wreck with an uninsured vehicle, the resulting lawsuit could cost you everything you have now and anything you might make for years. Seriously, build a monkey hut and bring a...

Hi Rubi! This will be our 17th consecutive Burning Man. Couldn't get through the year without it.

Re: Big camp, small landing party.

I have personally been asked to remove orange tape put up to mark off space I was hoping to save. I have watched for years when other people have had their markers removed for them if they weren't in camp to do it themselves. However, I get in very early.

Re: Big camp, small landing party.

Yup - land grabbing is never ok. The reason you are getting in early is not to save space for your campmates. The advice to bring as much of the infrastructure of your camp with you as possible is spot on.

The Burner Express pretty much is the shuttle.

You could fly her back. Or, try the rideshare thread.

Thanks Ratty - yes will watch for any other symptoms as we have some very nasty creepy crawlers here. Lots and lots of black widows and have seen a brown recluse or two. I think this bite is not a biggie.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..

Cleaned the RV fridge, then started on a cobweb I found - fucking spider bit me! Swelling the size of a walnut on my palm but not getting any bigger with ice. (I hope I killed that little bastard).

Set up boxes nearly packed. Still have way too much to do!!!!! Yikes...

Re: Question about size of camp with no pre-placement

Although many camps do it, the real answer is that you are not allowed to set out rope, flags, or markers to save space. You can set out your tent, dome, car, chairs, etc. in the corners you want to protect to try to save space but if you literally mark off where you want your camp boundaries to be,...

Ok, kiddies…. just returned from the beach where I had the honor of performing the wedding ceremony for my son. The two of them are a big part of our Burning Man greeter family, Zach and Manda. I am over the moon happy. A brief respite and then BBQ here at the house. What a wonderful day….. That's ...

Re: Lightning safety

During our storm on Monday last year, I remember telling the kids on a big metal scaffold next to our camp to get the hell off of it until the storm passed. One of our Greeters got tingled pretty hard because he was standing next one of the greeter bells when lightning struck. Was fine but a little ...

Re: How much will playa dust scratch clear vinyl (a zorb)?

Hi Sparr - I'm far less concerned about someone being hurt while using the Zorb, but my concern would be for the person who gets knocked down by it once the user has to bail out in a high wind. The speed and bounce it could pick up once empty could certainly knock someone down or off a bike. It is a...
