I've always used a 1/2" drill cause it's what I've got.

Don't go with anything smaller than 3/8".

Re: How? Charging small 12v batteries from my van (without giving them too much juice)

Is my reading comprehension faulty?

I understood the OP to mean he wanted to add an extra battery to his vehicle.

Thought my way was the easiest, though sticking an isolator switch is a good addition. :?

Re: How? Charging small 12v batteries from my van (without giving them too much juice)

If you're adding a second battery, it's best to have it match the one already in the vehicle. Even then it's better to buy 2 batteries at the same time from the same production run. The reason, If they're not matched one will always be weaker than the other which affects the charging cycle from the ...

Shouldn't matter as long as the outer pad gets plenty.

I put that inner pad there mainly as a retainer for the drip line and extra filter, but if the fan pulls some water into it, even better.

Re: cooling your tent or van

The little pumps we use don't supply to much water. The trickiest part of the build is getting the holes in the drip line spaced and uniform enough to flow out ALL the holes. I know exactly what your talking about Mosy, I've dealt with swamp coolers all my life (though not as extensively as you have...

Re: DPW looking for people to come get some bikes.

For the last 7 years that I've been, the policy has been "Don't take ANY bike that isn't yours at the end of the event". Even repair camps that loan bikes get stopped on exodus for suspected bike theft. This can seem like a mixed mesage, but the bottom line is "You brought it in, you ...

I think they said 5000 bikes were left on playa.

70,000 divided by 5000 = 14.

So one out of every 14 people left a bike on the playa...........GREAT!!!

Re: cooling your tent or van

I don't think there is a problem with the 240 cfm fan.

Most of the time my cooler is more of a water chiller unit than an evap due to the flow to the pad.

It's just that the trade off in power (double) for 60 extra cfm isn't worth it to me. 8)

The "Gap" is not new. If you go back to page 1 and ignore everything else, the design WILL reduce temp by 30 degrees in low humidity. The only change is the smaller pump we now use because it's cheaper and easier to get. You had such a huge amount of pad in there that I wonder if it reduce...
