Re: What's on your camp's task list?

EXTRA: bungee balls, ratchet straps, gorilla tape, rebar, and *good* rope. Basically bring extra of all the supplies you need for rigging shade when things are windier or less sturdy than you planned. Extra tarps too. Oh yeah, maybe a grommet kit - they're cheap and easy and handy (need a hammer). Y...

Re: Propane splitting - operating 3 camp stoves from 1 big t

Excellent Zeke, great product, thank you! I think my vocab was off, since I was searching "splitters" not "distributors". Thanks Ygmir for the tips - I will make a trip to the hardware store and do a little investigating and see if DIY or plug-n-play is a better fit. And, yes, Ygmir and Cryptofishis...

Propane splitting - operating 3 camp stoves from 1 big tank

Hi there! Our modest kitchen uses 3 double-burner camp stoves. Instead of buying a ton of the mini camping propane cylinders, we'd like to set up a one tank, 3-stove system. However, I'm only finding 2-appliance propane splitters online. I know with all the elaborate pyrotechnics out there, there mu...

Re: We need a system that appreciates VETS as much as VIRGIN

As a virgin, I like this idea. I have been a part of the rave community since '06 and I got to watch the death of that community first hand, HELL I was part of the cause of death. I witnessed a radically inclusive group of strangers take me in so readily that I was stunned! I in turn turned around,...

@ any Virgins above, don't feel guilty on account of anyone, you won your ticket fair and square! You're going to have a beautiful time! I'm certainly not PRO-veteran or ANTI-virgin, I just see value in insuring a healthy mix of both vets and virgins. a LOTTERY has its good points: - certainly helpe...

Re: We need a system that appreciates VETS as much as VIRGIN

So the lottery fails. Instead of bitching about it lets figure out a way to keep scalpers from getting all the tickets in the future. My suggestion is giving everyone at BM 2012 a serial number (perhaps on a sticker that they get at the gate entry) that can be used to guarantee them an opportunity ...

Re: We need a system that appreciates VETS as much as VIRGIN

Just want to reiterate... I LOVE VIRGINS! We really need y'all! With the exponential rate of new growth, however, it seems like a healthy mix of Virgins and Veterans is necessary, and that cannot be achieved by a 100% lotto, imho. Just don't want my post to be misconstrued as Virgin-hate, cuz I love...

We need a system that appreciates VETS as much as VIRGINS!

TL:DR In order to keep growth healthy, allocate 37,000 tiered tix to Veterans in a first-come, first-served sale and allocate 23,000 tiered tix to Virgins in a lottery (AKA IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR FRACTALS IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR US!) Just as it is important to have new blood flowing through our veins...

A twist on that idea. I like the idea of the January sale (whether it's via lottery or otherwise) being for those who have gone before (previous attendance being the only criteria for 'membership'). ~35k tix sold, ONE per person, via tiered lotto or non-lotto to veterans in January ~15k tix sold in ...

I'm an on-again, off-again lurker (if I post, it's in the prep/tips & tricks section) who has mixed feelings about the lottery, but mostly enjoy reading both sides of the story. The thing that gets me the most riled up, however, is when I see logic clouded by favoritism around here. I've seen well-...

Tie dye (or just plain ol' dye) or spray paint the stuff you bought last year? In a color palette you feel comfortable with but that won't be "ranger-y"?

Reminds me of my first year when I excitedly showed up with my decorated playa bike that was spray-painted...all fluorescent green

In case anyone's still reading... I just learned Jo-Ann's Fabrics will sell/cut/pro-rate BY THE INCH. And they sell fur. (I just went in the other day and bought only 3 inches for kitty ears.) Sure they're a bit overpriced (~$10-15/yard for fur) but if you ever have a super small project and no time...

Re: spare tire bike rack?

This one is ridiculously cheap (as spare tire bike racks go) for 50 bucks. I bought it 3 burns ago and it's still going strong. It ain't pretty, and I reinforce with a shit-ton of bungees (okay, 6), but it does the job. Says it holds 3 bikes. While it holds 2 very easily, it takes us a bit of maneuv...
