Re: cooling your tent or van
Thanks everyone! A switch would have been a convenient idea, I actually think I have a switch around here somewhere from another project. Anyway I just tried it out with just my gator clips and taadaaaa its works, and I didn't electrocute myself. I can feel the cool air blowing out already even thou...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Thanks strangeloop! I was a little worried and didn't want to do it wrong. Mines made out of a deli pickle bucket and it says DELI PICKLES in giant letters. Its to funny to cover up, I think I am going to paint giant pickles all over it actually (if I have time!). Those solar kits are sweet, I actua...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hey Figjam Any advice on connecting the fan to the battery, I have never connected anything directly to a 12v battery before and I don't want to do something stupid and fry myself! I have two gator clips that I'm going to solder to the negative and positive wires of the fan. Do I just connect them t...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Well I got it all together and running except for one crucial piece.....the cooler pad!!! Definitely not found anywhere on the east coast... Duh! Which of course makes sense now that I think about it. You should have seen the weird looks I got when I asked the Home Depot people where the cooler pad ...

Re: Belts, Belts, Belts
I made a utility belt out of a pair of old khakis last year and its was awesome! Very light, not to bulky, and cost me almost nothing. It had a few D rings for hanging small things (small bathroom flashlight, hand sanitizer) 1 medium pocket that closed with a snap for various items and one pocket fo...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I went for the Scythe DFS123812H-3000 ULTRA KAZE 120mm Case Fan and the Harbor Freight Solar Powered Fountain Pump, both have been mentioned tons of times on here so I figured they were the best options for a basic one. I have a small tent so I think one fan might be enough but after I build it if I...

Re: How long does block ice last?
I usually buy 1 block ice and 1 bag of cube and its lasts about two days, this is in the shade with out elevating the cooler off the ground (I hear this helps alot, im going to try it this year). My cooler is smaller though and primarily used to cool beer! You can use the melted ice water for shower...

Re: EL Wire for clothing - what size is best.
I use a medium 2.2mm on my coat and bikes and everything else. With the thin wire you have to be especially careful around the elbows and knees where you move a lot, it will snap with lots of bending. I focus my designs on the back and front of my jacket and line the cuffs on my sleeves, that way I ...

I third COs sock poi.... they are super cheap to make and the best for learning. Tennis balls/rubber balls on string work as well but are much more painful when you smack yourself in the face (and you will....alot). You can buy some pretty cool led poi too but these also will leave some nice bruises...
