I hope I'm not the only one who never heard of a bit wrap. Who does that? If it's dusty, rinse it off.

Bizbabe, not too obvious to mention, it actually hadn't ocurred to me but I think it's a great idea to get involved with one of those places. Sandman...good advice. I'm trying not to get freaked out by the whole idea, everytime I've been none of my preconcieved notions held up, so I think worrying a...

DIANE...lifetime horsewoman here. I don't know about you, but the first time I looked across the open playa (indeed, the first time I look across any great flat open space) I think: how much fun would it be to gallop across THAT? I don't really think taking horses to burningman is any crazier than h...

There is a link to the 2004 rideshare board under one of the "need a ride" threads on the eplaya, can't remember which one...This is my third burn and I too am going alone. You might think it wouldn't be as scary if you've already been, but I think it is. This is my "independant woman" intitiation!

There are veggie girls!

I've been a vegan for about seven years, and was a vegetarian a year before that...Once in awhile I cheat and eat some junk food that has whey or milk in it (the first five or six years I NEVER cheated! I don't know what's happened to me lately...) but I'll never touch meat again as long as I live. ...

Pay it Forward...cheesy yes but I cried at the end even the second time I saw it, and the scenery is great

to Lorgasm...

At least I'm not the only one. My friends and family think I've gone completely mental, they take the brunt of it since I can't say much at work (THEY would really have me comitted) This will be my third burn and I get all hyper and giddy every time I think about it ;)

Shaving tips

I highly recommend not bothering. Of course, I have very pale body hair so it's not that noticeable, but on the whole, I don't think anybody gives a shit whether you get stubbly. If you get a precious shower, wash your hair! I've never shaved on the playa (even though I do in real life)

In a pinch...

I went to another festival many years ago when I weighed significantly more than I do now, and I got very far from camp in a hippie skirt in 100 degree heat...aahhh...I can tell you that sunblock works in a pinch. It makes a good enough lube to stop chaffing--and if you're pale like me you'll be car...

My first burn (01) I went with my then-boyfriend who had been before, and I had absolutely NO idea what Burning Man was, I was expecting something like Woodstock but less frat-boys and more hippies. We got to the playa in the middle of the night in a horrible dust storm and I remember thinking :shoc...

Locks of love

Actually the last time my hair was long I donated it to them...I'm not sure it's quite long enough now, although I bet it will be by burning man. There's something really cool about the thought of cutting it on the playa though..does that mean I'm selfish? (I'm assuming they wouldn't accept playatiz...

Bringing enough water to wash my hair every day might be a problem. I think I managed to wash it twice last time...and it was short then Was thinking of having it professionally braided, but I'm not sure if it would last the week, or how much it would cost. Might be kind of ceremonious and fun to co...

advice for long hair?

Trying to decide what to do about waste-length hair at BM. Not opposed to cutting it beforehand if I have to, but does anybody have any good advice, other than dreadlocks, for managing long hair once you've been playatized?
