Hey there, So, you want it to wrap around your shoulder and upper arm... are you thinking of an arm band? or a cap sleeve? this idea could make a really fucking wikid cap sleeve- though I always tend to go big and colorful with tattoos, like a crazy carnival scene in the foreground and have fire and...

As a recent diva cup convert, I highly recommend the diva cup too, but if you've never used it before, the playa might not be the best place to try it out for the first time. also, you have to be able to wash it thoroughly with warm water and soap at least once a day, which might make it a bit incon...

there was a thread similar to this a while back (could be a long while back). Never have tried wither in-line skates or a skateboard on the playa myself, but have been told that you need to alter the gear a bit, like using dirt board wheels instead of regular ones on a skateboard. Personally, I had ...

the whole business about the burning of the man was a lil' bit dissappointing for me last year. i lost track of my friends on the way to go see- I didn't mind that coz it wasn't really about sharing the moment for me. So I sat down to watch in one spot, only to discover that the couple sitting next ...

Actually, naan ain't that fast. It's usually yeast leavened, so there's kneading and rest-time involved. On the grand scale, it's still faster than regular bread, and it does bake really fast (like 3 minutes on a pizza stone or inverted cookie sheet in a 450 oven). If anyone is going to attempt naan...

why vicks?

i dont get it... if you're just tryin' to keep the dust out of your body, why vicks? or tiger balm? would plain old petroleum jelly work just as well?
I'm just curious. Vicks and tiger balm just seem a little too mentholated and ravey for me to comprehend.

I could've just edited my other post, but this recipe is totally different. So, here it is: 2 c. water 6 c. sugar 4 c. Lemon juice 4 stalks lemongrass, smashed (just use the bottom 5 inches) 8 oz ginger, smashed 3 cinnamon sticks 2 vanilla beans, split and scraped (put everything in) 1 oz rosemary l...

I have a really good recipe for lemonade, but it's at work right now, and I am not... so this is my memory version of the recipe- I'll double check it and edit this post if necessary. First, it involves making an infused simple syrup- you can do this ahead of time, before you're on the playa if you ...

there's a leonard nimoy photography exhibit on in New York at the Bonnie Benrubi Gallery til July 9th. How do you find her... I'm going to borrow some metaphors from a lovely book called The Missing Piece Meets the Big O. Too often we think that we need to find something that is outside ourselves. We are searching for missing pieces, when we should just maybe focus on ourselves instead- learn to roll...

You can make your own patterns from clothes you already own and love. I've done this before with shirts, pants and skirts- if you aren't experienced with sewing, I'd suggest picking something with simple lines for your first try. Turn the article of clothing inside out, pin tracing paper to it along...

ah, brandy cherries! if you get a good quality brandy they don't finish so bitter, but if you are looking to spark the sweetness a little you could use port instead- Fetzer has a really nice one that has chocolate notes in it... should be really easy to find if you are near the vineyard. Or even put...

WHY? doesn't this create a Starbucks-like atmosphere where people expect X amount of service because the people who are working are being paid to serve them (instead of thinking that the people who are serving them are contributing to the event just as they are)? this whole debate has been done forwards and backwards, inside out, etc. many times before, and i think its fair to say that it just not as simple as "oh the cafe is evil". Nobody is forcing anybody to pay $3 for lemonade(it was $2, and still nobody was forcing anyone to pay that). You want cheaper ...

Last year, my travel mate and I ate pretty well- Tasty Bites Indian Curries were especially good because they were pretty filling, very flavorful, fairly economical, low on packaging, and easy to prepare.
