My mate I went with in '09 thought he went to the "daft punk concert." I had to let him down gentle but I felt guilty about it.

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread

I have to say that thanks to many a post and pm, I have come to realize that the Burning Man spirit will still be there when I first find my true home. I AM FUCKING EXCITED!!! There, I said it. Resent me, I don't care. I'm glad I won my ticket, because I know that I do belong at Burning Man. I'm gl...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

I don't know if anyone else really thought of this, but with too many new people, big accidents could happen. I've picked up passed out virgins in the road at night, helped people get to medical camps, and assisted anyone who really needed it the last five years. I'd bet that's this year is going t...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this

Work with the BLM to increase the population cap to 75K. Start the event on Saturday and burn the Man on Friday I know there is a torrent of side effects from doing this but we went from 25K to 50K with the typical kicking and screaming. We can do 75K no problem. Genius! Now someone's talking some ...

Re: Please Help Preserve the Low Income Ticket Program

Unfortunately, someone that would have found a way to pay for a $390 ticket will have the opportunity to apply for a $160 one. Epic fail. I suppose their would be a fair number of low income people out there that would have borrowed the money and registered for all tiers to increase their odds as we...

Re: Please Help Preserve the Low Income Ticket Program

Those of us who could only afford the lowest tier are now priced out of the March sale. Just because we were willing to pony up the extra $80 doesn't mean we're not f'n broke. As many of you are probably unaware America is still in the midst of the worst financial crisis in 80 years. The division i...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this

Here is how to do it: Say we have 50,000 tickets to sell. We designate a sales period that lasts 100 days, ending one month before the event...simple math tell us that this means a maximum of 500 tickets can be sold, each day of the sales period. Tiered pricing can be implemented, such that a certa...

Re: Please Help Preserve the Low Income Ticket Program

If you registered for but were not awarded tickets in the main sale, you may apply for tickets in the low income program. My understanding is that if you purchase a ticket in the open sale or apply for tickets through STEP, your application for a low income ticket will be automatically rejected (or...

Re: 2012 Theme Camps - will you make it this year?

So, maybe this coming year will be a year of small surprises. Maybe there won't be a lot of big bars, but there might be all sorts of little bars wandering the playa, ala "A Shot in the Dark". The event existed before theme camps. In fact, the advent of theme camps was so unnoticed at the...

Q: If I entered into the pre-sale or main sale drawings but wasn't awarded tickets, can I still apply for low income ticket? A: Yes. Please Help Preserve the Low Income Ticket Program

I know this is easier said than done as I was drawn for tickets but we need to preserve the LIT program even if that means not getting a ticket. Of course, if you registered for the main sale, you are disqualified but If you were meant to get a ticket on someone else's registration, do not apply for...

Ugh, how obnoxious. If anyone were to call me a tourist, my chosen form of self expression would be many, many obscenities in their general direction. How dare someone judge you like that?! Isn't that what people go to BM to get AWAY from? That kind of judgement, the minefield of others' expectatio...

In our rental agreement with BLM, we're only allowed X amount of people on the playa prior to opening the gates; I'm guessing that may have something to do with the limits on EA passes.... Fishy, I don't know that a small city is preferred. There's no cap on ticket sales. At the core of Harvey's and Law's falling out was the idea of inclusion. If more participants, legitimately, need placement and time before the event to set up their camps, more space should be allotted. I suppose it...

I'm surprised no one has pointed out how "un-Burning Man" it is that they denied over 100 camps last year. I don't know what was in those applications and I know the placement folks have a big, big job but it is monumentally douchy to say, in essence, "we don't think your idea is cool...
