Here is my two-bits. Burningman is a pretty adult place, for the most part. People bring kids and I'd have brought mine when they were younger without any misgivings at all. That being said, my daughters, ages 18, 18 and 23 are welcome to go any time they feel like saving up the cost of the ticket a...

I have been using Performers of the US as my performing insurance for a while. It's about $200/year (no prorating) and they insure people like trapeze artists etc.. You might look into their policy because they do insure against you injuring someone as part of your act, offending someone, etc... Yo...

Thanks for the info! I'll consider putting up a 'Use at your own risk' or 'Closed' sign. I won't be putting up a net because I believe they can create a hazard for anybody who can just more than a foot but I will be using spring pads. I've had a trampoline my whole life and the only time that peopl...

It's leaving it a bit late to try to find a camp now. I doubt you'll get anyone to recommend "wild camps" to you either. Your best bet at this point is to try to camp near people you think you'll like, then scout things out for next year. If you want to have a wild time, you will. You can take my w...

Help finding pump for 55 gallon drum.
I have two 55 gallon drums that originally held Dr. Pepper syrup. Our water smelled yummy last year! The pump we had didn't fit the threads in the opening and I have to get a new one this year that fits and works better. I don't know where to find one, though. The old one was something a campmate ha...

Re: Just because I already had them...
We're going totally freeze dried from backpacker's country and mountain house foods. You can get them at REI or campmor or any camping shop really. I just happen to already have them so that's what we're eating. I've had a few of those and they taste really good. Kinda expensive though. I like the ...

2) Do as Eric says.. 3) Last year I brought my laptop with me for the drive. While waiting in line I bagged (like ziplock) it after it was cool and waited till I got to camp to store it in the cargo area of the crv. The cargo area of that crv has a removable table with a space under it big enough f...

the playa has a smell?? I hear people saying this but I can't smell it...unless that occasional whiff of chalkboard chalk is actually playa. I did smell a lot of armpits last year, though. Not on purpose either.epic_elite wrote:can any one even smell the smell of people over the smell of the playa?

Some additional thoughts: Make other people do ice runs. You are going to be busy enough. Set up a schedule for other campmates doing clean-up. You shouldn't be doing this either! Regarding dry ice evaporating after three days; use more in each cooler. Wrap in many thicknesses of brown paper. Paper ...

I like seeing dangerous things on the playa. Helps balance all the hippie/raver bullshit. I don't light up much at night. I just watch where I'm going. A string of solar lights would be my first idea. Glow-in-the-dark paint. Depends on if you want stuff permanently attached, budget, etc. Glow in th...

Ok, my cliff claven moment before my afternoon siesta. You totally missed half of the irony in the google thingy. Did either of you think to try the google machine? I hear it works pretty well. Not knowing your route from Reno to SF, I googled reno car wash and got this: http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=car+wash+reno I imagine you could do the same search for each town along your rou...

....ah, but... Personal consciousness is raised by MOOP practices in BRC, then carried to defaultia by burners; the trick is to continue and educate those around you, one by one, just as we do at BM.
