Solo campers?

My two adult sons bought tickets to burning man for my birthday and we are trying to decide if we should join a group or go solo. We have a small 1982 Toyota RV (brought up to speed by Black Rock Auto in Sacramento) and will have shade structure, etc. Opinions, suggestions. Two of us are first timer...
