Loner, NOT Lonely
I am camping alone...but know my time and tent/shade will be filled with friends and non-genetic fam soon enough. Love doing it alone, makes me feel strong -- RAWR -- and I hate babysitting others who want me to go with 'em here and there...wanna do my own thing. BUT I also volunteer and thats the c...

Furrrrrry stuff
I would actually love a whole sub-forum on costumes & crafting, so we could have specific topics. but then i'm a sewing geek. my hints? Double stitch the shoulders on fur stuff- it's heavy. CUT FUN FUR WITH AN EXACTO KNIFE!!! from the back side. it's like 10000x easier and your living room looks le...

Easy Question! HARD answer!
This easy question requires a hard answer! I just detour over to Nye County & check into the Cherry Patch Ranch for a week prior to BM. An average week brings in about 2 grand & by the time the week is done, I don't mind all the old, naked, butt-ugly campers @ BM so much anymore (see Casan...

The naked, old, ugly truth :)
Okay. The secret is out, I'm afraid. Everyone here will blast me when I reveal this huge secret, they may not even allow me to attend, but the truth WILL set us free...and here it is: ONLY the MOST sublimely beautiful specimens of human life form are allowed at BM. TRUE. Once you have posted here, y...

You could try...
...a hot glue gun. The substance is slightly rubbery of course when cooled and therefore 'gives' a bit with stretchy fabrics and it does hold securely.

Lest you forget -
I usually use Norcal to contrast with the LA/San Diego area. But you're right in that San Francisco is only about 60% of the way from the bottom of the state to the top. Perhaps saying "Bay Area / Sacramanto / Central Valley" would be more accurate (because I want to include places like Modesto and...

Some things to see or do along the way :)
As you travel north from LA, you'll hit the lovely town of Santa Barbara, very upscale, lovely shops and nice beach. If you trek off the main street road to your east, you can drive through Montecito - huge estates that rival Hollywood Estates and in fact Oprah Winfrey lives there (and Michael Jacks...

p.s. on UHaul Rentals
IF you rent one of these traveling advertisements...bring something halfway artsy to cover the godawful billboards painted on the sides after arriving at camp. Funny Aside: Last year, while driving BEHIND a U-Haul on the highway, I noticed the ad on the back that should say: Seats 3 Adults Comfortab...

UHauls and RVS to rent here
I live in Fresno and most NOBODY in this dismal demographically challenged town knows what Burning Man is...and I say, don't volunteer information. I am renting a UHaul here and driving to Burning Man. Yes, its an 8 hour drive, but I love road trips and I think thats a good length one. Fresno has an...

I bought a Delta canopy pop-up shade thingie last year (I think they use the word structure or something :? ) I thought their prices were not bad, really...I'm driving in, so it's doable. go to deltacanopy.com. Hello my new Playa-mates :D October Wilde here -- Tobe for short (say it like Toe-bee, not To Be, ...or not to be...) Finding a Ride
In previous years, I have always seen a lot of posts on local Craiglists forums under "Ride Share" for those traveling in. Some need rides, others are offering rides if you can share cost of gas, etc. Check there closer to the event if nothing else has materialized by then.
