Last year was my first, some of the stuff mentioned above definitely are newbie mistakes and misconceptions. I was struck by how smooth the event wa...

Hi MaryAnimal 2010 was my first burn and I'll be back in 2011. It does a lot of prep, but I started in the spring and was ready in time. You'll love it! The toughest part is waiting til the actual event starts. It seemed to take forever for the end of August to arrive. Everyone I met on the playa wa...

Thanks Homies. It's in the plan, but oddly enough the real world of work is getting in the way of all the tagging I'd like to do. Hopefully at some point they'll get tagged.

Hey CattiBri,

Good to see another Manitoban going down to the Playa for the first time! I'll be camping in the Black Rock Fun Jet Camp at 8:30 and the Esplanade. Look me up!

I've told most people who know me well enough and some of my co-workers, although the rumor that then started was that I was going on a pilgrimage to the desert to light myself on fire. Which always makes for an interesting conversation starter.

I've got my own consulting practice that focuses on helping technology based companies (mainly life sciences) define their ideas and focus their businesses. And I've got a tiny photography side business and a part-time job in a business development group for a Canadian government department.

Hi Sara,

I'm going alone too (it's my first time to burning man), so you definitely won't be the only person by yourself.

I'm coming down from Canada.

I told some people the other day and yesterday I heard the rumor that apparently I'm selling all my possessions to go on a pilgrimage in the desert.

But generally, the response I've received is very positive, with only those with big religious hangups questioning my sanity.

Another Canadian Birgin

Hi there, I'm Darren, and I'm very excited to be making the trip down to Burning Man this year (except for the driving part). I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to contribute yet, but definitely will help out where ever I can. I'm thinking of solo camping and volunteering somewhere for a day or so. ...
Is the USA translation of "Winnepeg" "Land of endless, boring, flat fields to drive through for escape" or am I just an arrogant American yet again?
I'm tempted to say the latter :). You just have to understand the unique charms of the place.

I'm coming for the first time. I'm based in Winnipeg, not looking forward to the drive, but definitely looking forward to the event.
