Re: The MOOP map is out. We did good.

It seems to me that they previously didn't record much about the streets and plaza, just a new higher degree of accuracy, recording and reporting.

But yeah, the map is super green this year!

Re: CoVid-19 and The 2020 Burning Man Event

I am fairly convinced the event will not happen this year. The political pressure will be too great as we see more "large gatherings" cancelled either voluntarily or by government edict. Coachella should be an interesting test case here shortly. This outcome seems more and more a possibility with e...

You're going to want something with a little more weave than that. A camp mate brings that stuff and while it's better than being in direct sun light, it's not by much.

Re: Shiftpods vs. Alternatives

True Story: From 2001 - 2003 I camped with three $40 cheap-ass Coleman 2-pole tents. One was a bedroom. One for storage. One as a spare and to hold the dirty laundry. Each tent was like 4 pounds and packed tight n small. It fucking worked like a charm. All these fancy shelters remind me of people b...

Fuck that! My carbon offset is that I use less resources driving to and camping out for a week, than I do driving to work and doing my thing for a week in the default... They're already a little overboard with the whole entertainment tax and ever increasing vehicle pass bullshit. Are they going to c...

Running behind the water truck is hardly even a thing anymore, it's nearly extinct, kinda like shirtcockers...

Haven't seen a shirtcocker or a pants gun in years.

Re: Prankster giving many painful electric shock without consent

If someone is soliciting people to sit down in an electric (looking) chair just to take a souvenir photo with santa in this "special chair", I would ask myself, why? Was the chair that cool looking that you needed a photo of you in it "pretending" to be shocked?? Just keep walking next time, or ask ...

Re: My son wants an ATV

I remember when 3 wheelers (Big Red, pre-dating 4 wheelers) gained major popularity back in the day, those things fucked up nearly everybody that rode them...but yeah, two wheels are a lot easier to control, three wheels was a dangerous configuration.

You could probably pull it off for 1500 bucks or so for one person driving from that distance, 2nd person in the same vehicle would be less. You won't be the fanciest, but you may not die either...

The lengthening delays over the last few years is a direct consequence of the increased number of early entry folks.
I'll bet as much as 40% of the overall population is already inside by the time gates open.

Bikes at savemart - yes
Bike rentals on playa - no

Butane backpacker fuel - maybe
Propane canisters - yes

Time enough to uber over to wallyworld - Doubt it, I think the stop is for one hour. They won't worry about you if you're not back in time.

I've never gone early either, but from what i understand early entry has gotten fairly clogged for the last 3 or 4 years. Saturday is probably the biggest influx of early entry participants too.
