Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

From a view of making one's building & property fire-safe, I'm very interested to see what the fire investigators and fire researchers determine regarding confirming existing recommendations and perhaps some new recommendations. It's actually quite simple. Make houses, buildings and fences out of c...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

In the "camp" fire that burns in Northern California, there's already been reports that they had some sort of power outage reported about 15 minutes before that fire started and took off... Caused by and coupled with high winds, the place turned into a blast furnace. I also seen reported that the nu...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

Fuck man, these fires the last three years have been literally out of control! Not good.

I have a few family members in that region, not in harms way but they were evacuated.

A couple of years ago they got evacuated because of the damn dam at Oroville too.

Re: Theme Camp or Join?

Be careful about putting an event in the book unless you're completely ready for a possible massive influx of people descending upon your camp, depending on what you're offering of course... Maybe just try the immediate neighborhood and passers-by see how that goes. My small camp did a grilled chees...

I credit Mr Jackass for being the prime mover in the community addressing the PnP issue - thanks! - and he was followed a few days later by the sherpa's lament.

It only took like 4 yrs. for them to finally realize this shit is a problem, now hopefully they listen to Realburner inputs (instead of implanted imposters/PnP operators) and cut the head off of this beast. NO OSS except for water and shitter service, and NO early entrance for these fake-ass "theme ...

Re: 55 gallon drums and water storage

Short and simple win the race in BRC, a place where if it can go wrong it probably will. You don't want to spend the week presiding over an overly-complex and issue-riddled water system. Water is just the tip of the iceberg and rather easy to solve, wait until you get to the shade, shelter, transpor...

Re: 55 gallon drums and water storage

I wouldn't want to drink water from a barrel that had antifreeze in it no matter how well rinsed it is, you could end up with a long-term glitch in your matrix. They make perfect grey water barrels though, and you should be able to find used food grade barrels for $20-30 locally.

Re: 55 gallon drums and water storage

You're overthinking this a little bit, paint or tape a large X on the grey water barrels and obviously use two separate pumps and line systems for fresh and grey waters. If someone still drinks from or showers with barrels X, that's just going to have to fall in the category of idiotic and it'll be ...

Lines to get in are a very accurate measure of popularity. Actually the lines to get in are more an accurate measure of the impedance of getting on and off of the 747. Closed for VIP events, but with a line of saps waiting to get in even though the won't be allowed to doesn't sound so cool to me......

Without some serious modifications to the plane they will not be able to go any further uphill, it only gets softer ahead and impossible to where they plan on parking it. Even if they did get it into place, it could be a long while (years) before they can bring it out of storage between weather, gro...

there's no road to get where they're going and that thing is going to crush whatever it crosses. Need a permit to move it now? That's going to be interesting... I stand by my previous comments... So much for all of that "ground prep", that was fake news. https://www.gannett-cdn.com/presto/2018/09/2...

Re: Tips and Tricks for RV's at Burning Man

Always remove as much playa as possible while its dry, using DRY methods.

Once you introduce just a little moisture into the equation everything changes, it becomes cemented to anything it's in contact with and complete removal becomes much more arduous.

Abandoned no, still sitting in the desert outside of the BM permit site yes.

As for an MV, no. My campmates used to have one that I helped a little bit on, but all of that changed a few years back.
