Well hell, Figjam, that's my problem. My pad was right up against the bucket. I'll try rolling it a bit tighter and see how it goes.
Thanks,
J

Advice on leaks in the bucket cooler
Does anyone have advice on how to keep the bucket cooler from leaking through the side holes? Mine leaked something awful. I had to stop using it because the leak was forming a puddle that run into the yurt. I used the harbor freight solar pump and followed the usual directions. When it was on, it b...

Poly Pro baby. It's all about the long undies. They pack down to nothing, but if it's cold, you'll be in heaven.

Re: Transporting PVC
I've transported a monkey hut and a hexayurt to the player the last 2 years. I have one of those $300 fold up trailers. I drive a passat. It has no problem pulling the trailer, and this gives me room for my bike also. Definitely a nice alternative. I did replace the wheels and bearings after I bough...

Re: Monkey Hut measuring suggestion
I just use the center rib that runs along the top as a guide. Lay it down where you want one side, measure out your stake locations with a measuring tape and put 'em in. Then move the center rib over 12 feet or whatever and measure the distance from the pvc to 2 of the stakes you already have in. Th...

Funny, when folks talk about "drink the cool-aid", I always think of electric cool aid. Guess I 'm too much of an old hippy. Shhhhh, don't tell Simon, hippies offend him

Simon always has the best videos.
Larry told me there will be a burn next year, but they will definitely unplug the eplaya server this year. It's not as good as it used to be.

Re: Ever had an insulin pump on the playa?
I'm a type 1 diabetic, but I still take shots. On the playa I keep my insulin in my cooler with no problem. But if she does that, make sure it's not on ice. It's not good to freeze it, just keep it cool. She also should talk to her doc about adjusting her dose. The heat tends to make everyone eat le...

If it's still available, let me know and I'll come pick it up. I'm working with south bay CORE and we have a mess of rebar to bend for our effigy.

Were you guys on the esplanade last year around 9 o'clock? There was one spot around there that I kept coming back to night after night because the music was always good. I thought it was the hookah lounge, but it looked a good bit bigger than any of lounges in your photos. I hope I'll be dancing at...

Does anyone bury conduit?
DustDevil, Does anyone use actual conduit for underground power lines on the playa? I am running wiring for a regional effigy and I was wondering how crazy to get with the power. I originally thought I'd bury 1 inch PVC to run AC from the edge of our burn circle into the effigy. But it sounds like n...

One thing I brought last year that was a big hit was 2 bags of cooked, frozen shrimp and a jar of cocktail sauce. It was a terrific snack right around cocktail hour (that would be 1 pm - 8pm). Well, no one else has spoken up for my favorite brew method, so I'll chime in. Get a simple melita drip cone. They cost all of about $4. Yes, you will have to dispose of the filter also, but it's only about as big as the slug of grounds. Simply boil some water and pour it over the ground in the cone...

Gabe, Last year was my first year and I stayed all week. It didn't seem long at all, though I was really looking forward to a real shower by the end of the week. But I'll be the first to admit that last year was an extremely mild year for weather, so YMMV. I'm guessing you'll do fine a far as suppli...

I brought my old mountain bike out to the playa last year, and it's still doing fine. But one thing that you should consider is that you may REALLY want a cruiser on the playa. Dustdevil, Where the large concrete blocks something you trucked out there? Do you recall roughly how big they were? fbcotta, The one thing I wonder about most is, does the art exist to let the artist just say something, or does it exist to communicate? Any structural engineers in the house?
I'm working with the Sundial project (see the topic elsewhere in this forum) and we need some help with structural design. Is anyone in the bay area on this list willing to help out with some design work? If so, please contact me or Paul on the sundial discussion,
Thanks,
Jason
