Re: The Bar 2018 Edition

Thanks yg. A slight correction: the debris that we are passing through now was shed from an asteroid, not a comet. However, some of the other meteor showers throughout the year involve debris shed from comets. Overall, the effects are about the same. I'm not sure how they try to determine if it is g...

Re: The Bar 2018 Edition

Yep, the way I understand it, as a general rule, you'll see more meteors as the night goes on. It has to do with the earth's rotation bringing your particular position around so that you are facing the leftover comet dust and debris field head on. Because of the natural orientation of the earth and ...

:coffee: Good morning all! I hardly ever look at the spam that rolls through here, but I couldn't help but notice the weight loss solution that suggested that I should "accost my wideness" Now if I only knew what "Grant flavor in your plank" means, but I think I'm probably better off not knowing. Yeah, now that you mention it Canoe, I recall you noting the blank space technique in one of your posts some time back. Seems like a thoughtful thing to do for those who have been deeply impacted by the tragedy.

I wasn't able to see your video link Canoe, but I'm guessing this is the video source you're referencing
______

EDIT: I went back and put a space in my link here, so it no longer automatically comes up, much as Canoe has been doing.

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Glad you're having a go at it spacetime! I recall a particularly fine and thorough write up that you posted here on eplaya regarding the logistics/experience of traveling on the Burner Express bus several years ago. It was a good read. Likewise, I hope we get to read more about the 'ins and outs' of...

Bounce, with the big Burning Man tattoo on his arm, right? He stopped by the eplaya M&G this year, and we talked a bit. Sorry the news isn't good. Do you know any further info? They have reported on the news recently that the entire town of Paradise has been destroyed.

Re: The Bar 2018 Edition

Hi Marty, good to see you stopping by the bar! I'm glad to hear that you're remaining active, though like most of us who are beginning to advance in years to one degree or another, we have to gradually set aside things we were once easily able to do in our more youthful days. Stings a bit, but a goo...

G'Day SquirrelScotch! There are quite a few folks who come over from Australia every year. Keep poking around and I'm sure you'll meet a few. Meanwhile, welcome to eplaya!

Re: The Bar 2018 Edition

Hey gang! It's been awhile. I've had a lot of catching up to do around home since I got back from the desert. I just wanted to belatedly say that I had a great burn this year, and certainly enjoyed the opportunity to finally get to meet several of you throughout the week, and renew a number of old f...

...I'm logging out and not logging back in. That's nice. Burning Man really isn't everyone's cup of tea. It seems to me that it is much better for everyone that you realized this sooner, rather than investing a ton of time and money, and using up a ticket, only to figure it out later. I'm sure you'...

Re: Work access pass timing

I recall this question came up here on eplaya two or three years ago, and back then at least, it was confirmed that there was a temporary closing of the gate for a couple of hours just before the main event opening in order to reset computers, shift change, whatever. Not sure if any of this is still...

You'll get a good laugh at the thought of bringing your small-wheeled scooter once you get out there and get a sense of what the surface is actually like. It is sort of hard to imagine until you experience it firsthand. Definitely bring the bike though. Have fun InGearX!
