Re: What are you gonna eat this year?
I always make a few homemade comfort meals, then seal and freeze them in individual portions with enough to share: chicken pot pie is a tried and true favorite out there, and is even fantastic for breakfast!! lasagna 1 - tomato sauce, ground beef, artichoke hearts lasagna 2 - creamy roasted garlic p...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
I suggest: Burning Man Org open a ticket office on the playa . In exchange for one 2012 ticket stub each attendee can buy one ticket for 2013. This will ensure "scalpers" don't hoard tickets for 2013 and it provides BM Org with $17 million 1 year in advance. The problem with that is that the unfort...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
Just got my rejection letters. Two for the price of one. Nice. I still plan to try all of the official ways to get tickets - but I have to say, the double rejection shakes my faith a little extra. If that was not flowing correctly on their part, what else might have glitched? It does suck to see th...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
Bummer, now there is more waiting. I think more of my friends got tickets than didn't, and I'm hopeful to get one somehow. Good luck to everyone else on this thread!

Re: Experience with Global Vision Eliminator Goggles?
Hey there! I've been googling around a lot to find the perfect BM goggles and it seems like a lot of ladies said the Eliminator goggles fit smaller faces just fine. Okay, Eliminator goggles it is. But...I still have some options to choose from and I'm hoping to get some reviews from Burners who's u...

Our Seattle decomp (SeaCompression) will be at an outside venue this year. I'm going to make some fur chaps for the first time in an attempt to keep warm, any helpful advice before I start?

Re: Food at BM?
I made sure to bring a lot of things I liked to drink. The shelf stable Horizon chocolate milks were so good cold in the afternoon! Seltzer or sparkling water for a change. I cooked homemade food and froze it; lasagna, beef stew, etc. I put it in ziploc bags in single serving portions. You can heat ...

That's a good idea Trilobyte. I can do that this year, since she wouldn't try to go until possibly next year anyway.

Thanks Savannah! Nothing about pumps specifically, but still good information that I will share with her. She helped with sewing costumes and other prep last year and this year, I just know she would love it!

Ever had an insulin pump on the playa?
Hello! I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with an insulin pump for diabetics on the playa. My Mom would love to go to Burning Man, but is concerned of the intrusion effect the playa would have on her pump. Any info/stories would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Costume & Crafting Help
Any good tips or patterns out there for making a Greek goddess dress? I made one without a pattern or sewing one year. Just used a lot of fabric, cut where i needed to, and used pretty gold rick rack ribbon to tie off in strategic places to makes the gathers and folds hold where I wanted them. The ...

Re: Playa food for the extremely lazy?
Sorry if this topic has already been done, but I'm way too lazy to search. Hi there! I kinda suck at feeding myself when on the playa. So this time I decided to organize my shit a little bit. With your help. Help me decide what kind of food to bring. It has to meet the following requirements: 1) No...

I knew I would go back again the first day I was there in 2010. One of my girlfriends (who is a six time Burner) that I camped with told me she knew it was for me as soon as we got there and she saw me interacting with people. It was one of the most liberating experiences I have ever had, and I will...

I like this kid! I thought it was funny, too. If Jkisha had been a sweetheart, it would have been a rude response, but she was just returning it in kind . . . Yup and no offense taken either. I took no precautions in 2009 and I after the first half of the first day I couldn't run a brush or even my fingers through it. At the time I had a long length hair, and it's naturally very thin. Working the tangles out resulted in a brush full of hair and a lap full of broken hair as well. I hated...

I wash and condition my hair once out there, as close to dusk as possible to reduce the likelihood of a storm happening immediately afterward, and try to keep it covered ("try" being the operative word--I could do a lot better). When I return to the default world, I like to use conditioners that ha...

Best way to protect hair?
I went in 2010 for my first time, and when I came back, my hair was a whole different and nasty texture. Dry and about to break off. Does getting extensions/dreads put in help protect your hair for later? Or do they just make it easier when you're there because you don't have to deal with your hair ...

Well, I've seen a few different things that people refer to as bubble fur. http://www.distinctivefabric.com/fabric.php?product=BUBBLE The above is what I am talking about and it has circles of fur and then areas with a really thin transparent material. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for...

Has anyone worked with bubble fur before? I bought some in yellow and can't seem to decide what I want to make out of it. I am not the most experienced at sewing, but last year (my virgin year) made some skirts and boot covers. I had so much fun creating things, even if they were not always as inten...
