Re: Piercings on the Playa?

I have a septum, stretched lobes, and one of my nips pierced. Septum was fine, it's probably the hardiest piercing I have. However, both my lobes and my nipple tend to get angry with weather or temperature shifts back home, and get itchy in dry environments if I don't take care of them. So, expectin...

Re: post what you didn't like about 2011 here

There seemed to be a lot more renegade fireworks than the last two years I've witnessed. I was camped on 3:30&F, and on Saturday night just after our camp met up again after the man burned, we hear what sounded like one going off right next door. The day before one of our neighbors lit a tent in...

Re: Costume & Crafting Help

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with my sewing machine. So I made a playa coat last year, this year I ripped a few stitches and decided to sit down and fix a few things-- on the same coat, with the same machine-- but I've broken four needles, made no progress, and have no idea what is going wrong. ...

I fit a friend, a monkeyhut, two fold-up cots, a 6 person tent, and enough food/water/supplies/costumes for 2 people to last the entire week in a 2000 Mustang last year with some creative packing. If there's a will, there's a way :P

Homeofpoi is an excellent resource for poi sets, but I would always recommend starting off with DIY sock poi. They have some good tutorials there too, and on youtube. As far as I know, a lot of spinners prefer white gas because it burns cleaner and doesn't degrade your poi heads as much as kerosene ...

Wind vs. Camp?

I've read some posts that suggest facing your tent and shade and even parking your car according to the directions that the sun rises, the wind is most likely to blow, etc. etc., and was wondering if anyone had some insight as to what the best directional setup for my camp would be. I'm going to be ...

Second-time Burner from Orange County

I've been stalking this forum long enough I figured it was time to actually make an account... anyway, hello err'body, looks like I'm returning to the playa this year. I'm extremely excited, I am planning on staying most of the week this time as opposed to the three days I was there last year. I'm a...

Second-timer from Orange County

Hello err'body, I figure I stalk the forums enough to finally make my own account. This year will be my second burn, but my first year really exercising radical self reliance-- I accompanied my friend and his dad in '09 and ended up sharing their tents, shade structure, and food :x While it seems li...
