Drug testing IMO, is ok for certain safety-sensitive positions and ones which require a security clearance so your are less likely to be bribed. HOWEVER, when it comes to pot, they way it is tested for (i.e., THC metabolites in your urine, fat, etc.) is a bunch of crap. You coulda smoked a doobie a ...

As far as I know I'm riding down on a bus from Portland with a bunch of people which should help. I just think it's too bad that with gas Burning Man is going to be extra-expensive. Even if you make a decent living it still ain't cheap. Burning Man shouldn't have to be a rich man's endeavor. I am al...

Gas Prices, Burn Attendance!?!

So my current prediction is that gas will be somewhere around $5 to $7 a gallon by burn time. I don't know about y'all, but I am seriously worried this is going to put a damper on a lot of people's burns this year (including my own).

Your thoughts?

Thanks robrob, appreciate your replay! (btw I'm in Seattle, just fixed that on my profile.) I know it sounds silly, but there's nothing like waking up on the playa and listening to "The End" by The Doors.

"Ride the snake..."

For some reason, it just makes too much sense.

I left my mind on the Playa...

After being back "home" in the default world for a couple o' weeks now, nothing really seems the same. This year was my first burn and it was an incredible experience, dare I say best time I've EVER had. I met some amazing people and saw lots of incredible stuff. I also take some pride in the fact t...

Thanks for the replies, guys! :D I am starting to think that forgoing the EZ-UP is probably what I should do. I think I'll go the craigslist route for something sturdier. Any recommendations on a good, solid structure that would provide a comfortable space for up to 4+ people (and a hookah or two)?

Yes I am referring to a pop-up tent like you have pictured above. Do you think if I made reinforcements to the frame and used canvas for walls, that'd work? This has just been my tentative idea for a shade structure, and with the canvas walls, that might provide some refuge from dust storms... Or at...

EZ-Up Tents on the Playa

I fully realize the kite potential of an EZ-Up pop-up tent, however, if one were to anchor that bad boy down really well and maybe use somewhat heavy-duty canvas (the kind you lay down when you are painting) for walls, do you guys think that would be an effective structure? I am driving in a Ford Ex...

I am thinking we could probably make it in a day unless most of you really advise against it. My friend has driven from Alaska to Washington by himself, and he would have made it within 2 or 3 days had he not experienced a car breakdown. I have also made the drive from Alaska, longest distance we we...

Seattle to Burning Man drive: How is it?

Well my question is fairly simple, how's the drive from Seattle to Burning Man? Can it and/or is it a hard drive to do in one swift push? (with stops to go to the bathroom, switching between drivers, etc.) Any feedback would be appreciated! This year is going to be my friend and I's first burn and w...
