Re: "Random"
I understand the point that computer-simulated "random" doesn't produce mathematical randomness. But, I don't understand how that lets someone (e.g. a scalper with lots of resources) improve their chances by gaming the system. Assuming Ticketfly assigns places in the queue based on those remote deci...

Re: What time did the waiting room open?
It's very comforting to me to know, per Trilobyte's post at: https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=464&t=76836 that people who get in the waiting room before 12:05 p.m. are just then put in random order. I had worried that not clicking the instant when the link to the waiting room appeared w...

Re: Advice on finding people to camp with
Wow. I just got a shock ... discovered that none of the people I've gone to BRC with for the last 9 years have tickets. Some have dropped out. The others just didn't get tickets. Maybe they will, but I have a bad feeling about this. So, my immediate thought was, "How long can I wait for my friends t...

Re: Are you losing interest in Burning Man too?
Reading this made me feel like not going, because it's all just becoming too corporatized: Burning Man tells Dancetronauts to get off its lawn because performers are too loud http://burners.me/2015/06/14/dancetronauts-too-loud/ Reading this, posted on the Dancetronauts site, renewed my decision to g...

Re: How Was It for You?
Thanks to those of you who let me share your experience a little bit, vicariously. Anybody know what the attendance numbers are? I.e., out of all those tickets sold (don't remember the final number, but it is large), now many ticket holders came to the Burn? Yes, in part, I'm curious to know how man...

Yes, I know, I was here, in it, waiting for you all to come back. Without the +/- 50,000 Burners (whatever that means) in it, the default world seemed a little darker.theCryptofishist wrote:.... The world remained unredeemed, however.

How Was It for You?
I missed Burning Man this year. Stuff happens. Anyway, BRC is different every year, and the event is so big that it's not really an event, it's a smorgasbord. So, for me and anyone else like me, ... how was it for you this year? For you non-virgins ... what seemed like last year, or two years ago, w...

Re: Nudity banned this year?
Trilobyte: I admire your optimism. This August there'll apparently be cops from Pershing County at BRC. There's a new Pershing County ordinance aimed at banning nudity at BRC. If the ordinance is upheld, I don't see why those cops (& maybe others) would not enforce it.

Re: Nudity banned this year?
The lawsuit between Burning Man and Pershing county is not expected to have any affect on this year's event, regardless of the outcome. Relevant updates would be posted on the Burning Blog as well as covered in the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter. I don't understand this comment (being posted in 2013...

Anyone heard whether BMOrg is proposing moving the event outside of Pershing County? I wonder if moving it to one of the Indian reservations woul...

Re: So, Does the Ticketing Experience...
invest us in Burningman so that we overrate its pleasures? For me, sort of the opposite. Last year I had a ticket hassle. Then, my car broke down & I was delayed 36 hours on the way. Seemed like a different vibe @ BRC, less like a special place. After the tickets sold out unexpectedly in 2011, BMOr...

Like that, but with no Ranger decal, and not a truck, and people who did not look like they were doing anything but sightseeing. But, maybe they were on the way to doing something important, and the decal was covered with dust,

My camp got tired of seeing cars that had the doors and windows pulled, driving around, having qualified as "art cars." Seemed to be no creativity in that -- just a cheap shot.

I had a good time, and expect to return next year. It seems clear that BMORG has decided to embrace tourism -- pure spectators. Kinda sad, but not surprising. BMORG's press release, saying they have decided that they did a great job on the tickets and there were really no problems, was also kinda de...

STEP sellers should be fully reimbursed
According to the latest announcement ([BManUpdate] V16:#13:02.15.12), "People selling their tickets back via STEP will be refunded the face value of the ticket plus the delivery fee ( but not the service fees $7 - as these fees cover services already rendered and are not refundable)" We should encou...

SandFly- ... it will add time @ gate. Lets lowball and call it 10 seconds. 10 seconds per ticket x 53,000 tickets If the crew were instructed to make only the most perfunctory check of the name, it could take the same time as the person spent staring at my ticket to see if it were fake. All we real...

Re: Wanna total mess over scalpers – here is an idea -
The only problem I see with the suggested system is that the people at the gate would need some kind of computer-linked scanners (so the same number doesn't get used repeatedly), and I'd expect the playa dust to destroy those quickly, leading to a massive confusion. I just needed to jump on the boar...

Re: Rename Critical Tits?
The name is such a tradition, I hope it stays. I'd also like the new organizers, if any, to get clearer about what they're trying to do. If they don't want the parade to be a public celebration of female sexuality and vitality which certainly will always invite photography, then they should put up w...

Re: Camp fuck your camera!
I formerly had a job that was at risk when I went to Burning Man. I went anyway. BMC should make it clear that if you go to Black Rock City, almost certainly people will take your picture unless you spend the week hiding from the light. Some of those pictures will be among the thousands publicly pos...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
I expect there will appear to be a massively increased market for the tickets this year. I've only bought one ticket in the past, but cannot see why I (and everyone else) would not buy the maximum, for the two obvious reasons: #1 -- If others of my group don't win the lottery, I can sell them ticket...

You sound really angry about this. Whatever Burning Man is about (personally, I think there are about 50,000 different answers to that), it is not about making participants unhappy or angry. They do not consider cellphones to be "cameras", so they are not asking for compliance tagging cellphones. Really? Where does it say that in the policy? It doesn't.
