Re: cooling your tent or van
Hopefully that solar panel will offset some of the draw. I assume the panel will be connected to the battery the entire time, whereas the fan will only be on 4-5 hours a day. Hopefully the constant .3 amp input will cut the sporadic 2 amp output at least in half. If that fails, well, I just heard th...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I've attached the fan that fig recommended to the underside of the 5-gal bucket lid, and glued the sewage pipe to the top. 1. A couple of concerns: the fan actually has 1.6 amps printed on it, whereas fig said his total draw was 1.4 amps. 2. The air seems to be blowing out of just one side of the se...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Please, people, use caution when handling/testing the fan that fig recommended. Don't put a huge gash in your thumb like my dumb ass did. Turns out the fan is, indeed, quite powerful. It can split you wide open with just the residual spin it puts out after being turned off. Better now than on the pl...

Fig, I was talking exclusively about that magical space garbage container. I was trying to be polite by not mentioning your ... ahem ... issue.

Re: cooling your tent or van
Uhh... that takes the freakin' cake. Thanks to Mr. Fig and collective wisdom for the design! I'm getting 22-25 degrees of cooling, easily powered by a 45 watt solar panel. With two Scythe fans the output is a little marginal for my 23' class A RV, but with the flow piped directly to the curtained-of...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I have some questions about powering the fan and pump. It looks like the pump has its own solar panel, which is great, but to power the fan I will need a power supply. Seeing as how I'm in the middle of nowhere, I assume I will need some sort of battery. That's great! I have a charged car battery si...

I once sat out on a lake, struggled, prayed, tried to catch a lady, a fish, tried to fight my self, and had a religious experience. No drugs involved. At this point I just want to play a couple of games of chess.

Re: deep playa at night
I'd say halfway, maybe two-thirds, between the trash fence and the outer edge of the city. It's hard for me to say, because I've never attended Burning Man. All the way out? The darker, the deeper, the better.

Re: Proper Galaxy Hut Dimensions
ygmir, you are absolutely correct. Galaxybeing writes: All tarp sizing is like that. The idea is that if you have, for instance, a frame size of 10x10, the tarp will be a bit smaller so it will sit in the center of that frame and be suspended by the ball bungies. So you would still buy a 10x10 tarp,...

So should I get a tarp that is one foot larger than the specified dimensions? I called Creative Shelters and left them a message, as no one picked up.

Re: Proper Galaxy Hut Dimensions
http://galaxybeing.com/galaxyhut/ says that you are supposed to use a 16x24 tarp, and provides the link to a reputable distributor. But at that distributor's website, it says "actual sizes are 4" to 6" shorter in length and width than order size." So which do I get? The 16x24, or the 20x30? so, are...

I need shade!
I don't want to buy a whole bunch of stuff for Burning Man, but I am bringing a station wagon and do have a bunch of painter's drop cloths I can take along ... does anyone know if or how I can attach these drop cloths to the open end of the station wagon for reliable shade?
