True story, and not uncommon, I don't think - 2008, me and my travel buddy landed in Reno, walked outside, looked around for a minute, and tripped over a trio of Italian Burners who had just picked up their RV - we said "Hey, can we hitch a ride with you?" they said "Sure!" and voila, we had a ride....

Today I sewed 2 skirts, 2 halter-style tops, and a white sparkly unicorn-pelt kimono. And 2 fuzzy soft blankies. And found out that we have a friend cruising through town the weekend before who room in his trailer for our bikes so now I gotta figure out how I want to decorate my bike this week befor...

This weekend is condense - right now there's 30 outfits in the pile. Need to reduce it to 7-10.

And have to set up tent that's gone unused for 5 years to see if I can use it or if needs replaced.

Joy.

Tempe, AZ to BRC = 815 miles.

One stop in Vegas, one stop in Reno.

We COULD do it in about 16 hours if we didn't stop and hauled ass the whole way. Instead, we hit Vegas for a night, then Reno for a night, so we're well-rested and safe.

Did you know that Burning Man conducts a census? Here is a link to the last one posted http://afterburn.burningman.com/08/census/index.html ETA: In answer to your question: Computer networking at a university I did NOT know that there was a BM census, that's really cool. Thanks for the link.

I'm asking from an anthropological POV, not in the least bit insinuating that any of us are what we do.

That would be ridiculous and invalid.

The Burner demographic...

Preface: I looked for a similar thread (back 10 pages) and couldn't find one. Topic: Who are we? In the default world, what do we do? Doctors, trashmen, bakers, housewives, Starbucks baristas... they say Burners come from all walks of life, and i believe that to be true, but would like to discuss sp...

I just feel a little betrayed that this is how he honestly felt all along. Would have been much easier if he was up front from the beginning. EXACTLY. If he wasn't honest with you about this, what ELSE has he mislead you about. Also, my spidey-senses read that this guy is super insecure when confro...

I guess it depends on the individual. I personally can't see myself only doing it once (hence the return trip this year) but I can definitely see a friend of mine who went with us in 2008 not doing it again.

"Once in a lifetime that happens every year" about sums it up. :)

Hey boss, tried to check out your nifty spreadsheet but your Google isn't set up for it to be viewed by "everbody"!

As a quasi-compulsive spreadsheeter, I'd love to take a look, just in case you've got something listed I don't!
