Re: North Pole Party Shade
The NPPT's are nice because they're light/cheap/sturdy/easy to setup, but they waste a lot of space. 30' footprint for maybe a 15' useable space inside, unless you're laying on the ground. The costco carports feel a lot larger inside to me, although they are heavy as hell and take more effort to se...

Did this art exist on Playa?
While on an art car in the wee hours of Sunday morning, I happened upon a piece of art in deep playa. It was a K hole. Seriously. It was a 3-4' diameter hole dug about a foot into the playa with perfectly smooth sides with a perfect lower case san-serif k dug a bit further down. No one else saw it a...

Re: Why I'm a lottery defender.
Sorry, demand is NOT the problem! Tickets didn't sell out in two minutes or even two days last year, they sold out in 6 months. The BORG created an artificial demand problem by adding uncertainty to the market with the lottery. By allowing people to buy first come, first serve, but by making the tic...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
Until all tickets are non-transferable, scalpers will always game any system, period. So here's a weird thought (puts on my tinfoil hat) I've heard in more than a few places that the BORG believes BM to be unsustainable in the long term, an idea I actually agree with. Is it possible that they are no...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
@trilobyte, either you are not paying attention or your glasses are tinted a whole lot rosier than most! From BMORGs perspective things have worked great, they sold all their tickets. But for long time Burners and planners who have not received enough tickets to power their camps, this is a disaster...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
You have to sacrifice something to keep the scalpers out. That sacrifice is the ability to transfer tickets. If you have an extra ticket, you use STEP to sell it back on a sliding scale. The sooner you sell it back, the more you get for it. If you want to gift a ticket, they have to be with you at t...

Re: Why I'm a lottery defender.
Thanks for the ticket faq.... I should have looked harder. I was expecting some long "Jackrabbit speaks" letter... Q: But this system doesn't really prevent scalpers! They'll just register multiple names and decrease my chances of winning! A: Actually, it does help prevent scalpers from purchasing t...

Re: Why I'm a lottery defender.
"I told them to just print pictures on the back of the tickets, why didn't they email me back so I could explain how to do that to them?!?" after they released a FAQ which addressed why they didn't go with names on tickets, Could someone please direct me to the faq explaining why they chose the lot...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
after that what difference does it make since the rest will be spectators it won't change the event one way or another Wow! That is really quite an elitest concept you have there! I can tell you right now that you are wrong. There are plenty of: theme camps, art installations, art cars and art perf...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
While I am not anti "big camp" I know I also had to camp at J & 8:05 last year and walked past vast swathes of land all week that never got used because they were reserved for big theme camps and created urban sprawl. But that's another issue. Priority is a very touchy problem. While I don't have pr...

Re: Lets start talking about how to fix this
I am reiterating some things already said here but... The lottery system sucks because it creates false scarcity by making people worry that they will not get tickets and therefore encouraging them to game the system, reducing the overall number of tickets. How many people do you know who figured ou...

Re: North Pole Party Shade
Yea seriously! Pictures of new part please! Has anyone ripped the very top? I had mine set up in the backyard getting ready for regional and apparently some strong winds ripped open the very crown . I just got it back from the tent company , $60.

Figjam, Noticed the 5 gal bucket next to the box. Is this connected to the main box as a water resevoir? It would be very easy to attach a small hose at the bottom of the box to a spigot coming out of the 5 gallon bucket and then have a handy place to fill and keep more water. Plus the added bonus i...

So I have been following this thread for awhile now. I actually made the base unit with the MegaFlow 200 Blue LED Silent Fan....but found dissapointing air flow. The Blue LEDs are nice though.... I would imagine that they could, being a "tent maker". There are definitely some funky curves to allow the tent to sag rather than be taunt like a normal tent. But hell, if the price is right, I say go for it! I would say your biggest difficulty may be fashioning the crossbars that come off the cent...

BTW, Tabula Rasa Mistress, what did you use for the floor mats? I looked into something for the floor and was really sticker-shocked by how much all the flooring options would cost. Looking at your pictuires, I am thinking maybe some thin foam with covers made from cheap sheets might be the way to g...

Yes. My recomendation is for either 3 units of five or five units of 3. I have 1 unit of 8 and 1 unit of 7 and it is a bit cumbersome to install in the tent. The 5 units might be a little much for set up. There is a string of elastic that runs down the middle to hold them together and they couple at...

My first Burn was 09 so sorry I couldn't wear it when it was "cool" ;o) One of my buddies bought the fabric for me at the fabric district in L.A. while sending ph...

Only complaint I have heard about robe patterns is that they dont "attach" well in the front because the collar role is also on the front. I managed to find this pattern and it worked great. It asks for a lot of fabric though! I paid a sweet little old women $100 to make it (not including the fur of...

Very cool. Sadly my friends took one lousy picture of the tent at the burn so I will just have to take some pics at our next decomp! Has anyone found a good way to close off the meshed openings? I was thinking it would be a great way to keep out the dust. Also, my friends who used it complained that...

Well we didnt get to go this year - still no baby!- but I had made some mods to the tent that might interest you. I sent the tent to the playa with some friends and they loved it. The first mod I did was to get tent poles made that could go in a circle around the inside of the tent above the support...

if you are looking for a tent, North Pole may have a fewleft! They were keeping them for warranty replacement but since all the tents are out of warranty, they are selling them. This is where I got mine. Call them and they will have it to you in like five days, $130! 1-800-366-1599 in the USA and 1-...

So glad that worked out for everyone! I am very bummed, we had to cancel our Burn this year. My wife is preggers but we were supposed to have two months to go as of the Burn. The baby dropped on Tuesday and she is very slightly dilated so now she is on bed-rest till the birth and on zero-fun drugs.....

Can someone post the measurements of this thing when it's folded up in the carrying bag? 11" x 11" x 33" And maybe the UPC# from the box? That might help people track it down too... North Pole 2.0
So I put up the tent and really like it. Came up with an idea to make a 34.5' loop from pvc that would sit above the 3 support pieces and connect to the privacy shade loops. This would push the tent out 1 1/2 feet at that 7 foot height, providing more head room and usable space. I am now attempting ...
