Boston's CORE project "The Cod Piece"

The Boston Cod Piece is going to be a 19ft long wooden cod brought to Burning Man as an art project. It is part of the Circle Of Regional Effigies (CORE), which is a series of 35 effigies made by local communities from around the world that will surround The Man at Burning Man 2012. In a celebration...

Ebay ticket sales

Personally, I've been feeling the reason that tickets were sold out so fast are due to the possibility of third party involvement in buying the tickets. It seems a bit ridiculous when you look at the previous year sales. Plus I've seen stuff like this a few times on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Tick...

Ashes to bring to the temple

One of my friends passed away this month. He was going to burning man this year for his first time. It was obviously a surprise and we've been trying to deal with the unexpected change. We all agreed to still bring him some of his remains there. I'm sure that's what he would want. We would like to s...

I think it's fine as long as kids are of a certain age. I know some parents are responsible enough to bring young ones in. However, as a personal choice I would keep kids out until their teenage years. To each their own... but everyone knows burning man can be a dangerous place.

I've had pre-burning man dreams. Some awesome... others not so much. I do get anxiety pre burn every year. I guess I think of all things that can go wrong. I worry I've over hyped myself. At some point I find some type of calming medium. After that it's all good.

I had a girl come up to me last year Thursday night. I was in a group all from my camp probably about 12-15 people. I was the brightest colored and by far the blink-est. The girl had no backpack, no bike... no gear to speak of. She was wearing a striped polo shirt and jeans. She also was a complete ...

So far I feel like my options for shading this tent are either 1) making a new monkey hut... redesigning it so it's taller then the original one. 2) Using aluminet stretching over tent. 3) getting a carport. 4) using camo netting which most people seem to think don't give enough shade. My friend who...

So I got a springbar this year. I also heard all the talk about the north pole canopies. I have a monkey hut from last year but is not nearly tall enough for a springbar tent. I was wondering if anyone knows if a springbar will fit comfortable under a North Pole shade structure.

So do you think it'd be better to do something with aluminet or a UV coated tarp? I'm trying to prevent myself from having to make three quonsets huts for everyone camping. Plus we're shipping all our gear from new england so it is also space limiting. Keep in mind I'll be using a linen tent instead...

Okay good point.

I know one my friends mentioned something to me before about dumping small amounts of grey water in port-a-potties. I don't know if that's a taboo thing to do or not. I rather following regulations as close as possible but also minimize waste.

Evaporation pond

What are your thoughts about grey water and when it's necessary to build an evaporation pond? There is a small group of 3-4 people going with me to the playa. We will also be camping with a larger group of people (maybe as many as 20 of in an unorganized camp). Everyone is expected to bring their ow...

This will be my second year at Burning man. This will be my first year not going with a theme camp. Which is good for a common are...
