Re: Thoughts on Solar system

I'd rather buy the 45 watt system from Harbor Freight for $149 in conjunction with one of these for $126. You really do end up using the jumpstarter part outside of BM. I've had good luck using such a combination while camping in Baja California. http://s.shld.net/is/image/Sears/spin_prod_696117901?...

Re: Man Clothes

If you wanted to spend money, you can have fun with it easily. You could get this full body jumpsuit, take a black marking pen, and draw the cuts of meat. Put horns on. Maybe do something for the face. You then have one costume. One down, six to go. http://amasquerade.com/images/products/comic_books...

Re: Another year another holiday.

Just checking, and yes, hope to see you out on the playa. What about visiting us here in Sacramento for the Argyle golf course benefit party? Endorphin Camp is officially on the list of theme camps although I'm the only actual endorphin that's likely to be there. Wow Zeke, that post is right on tar...

You know this is Zeke right? Again, I love the profile picture. Such a powerful image. Have a nice time with your family tomorrow.

I wonder what it would take to change my Eplaya name from Packoderm to Zeke. I hope that name's not taken.

Another year another holiday.

I can't honestly say that I exactly welcomed the holidays this year, and although I'm tired and ready to turn in early this evening, it turned out to be a good thing after all. Happy Festivus everybody.

Re: Travel to Mexico?

I was in Srinagar just a few weeks prior to their big blowup a while back, so I know a little about what a war zone feels like. If you're nervous, cross in Mexicali rather than Tijuana, avoid Ciudad Juarez, don't get involved with drug action, just be a tourist, and you should be fine. We drive down...

Re: Travel to Mexico?

So, it's safe to say that while visiting Mexico, it might be safer not to join any anti-cartel, watchdog organizations. Maybe somebody could do an internet search to see what the ratio is to the number of tourists killed in Mexico compared to the total number of visitors to Mexico.

Re: Travel to Mexico?

If you're going to travel to Mexico, the two things you can do to help keep you safe is to not hang around the border areas too much and to avoid dealing in large amounts of drugs. If you are going to be dealing with drugs, that map could be useful in finding which business colleagues would be best ...

Here's my solution: Feel privileged for the times I got to attend Burning Man in the past, and feel hopeful for times in the future when I'll get to attend again. I'll put in my ticket order, and it will be what it will be.

There are probably better ways to do all of this.

Re: Slab City on CBS news

I don't know how fun it would be to throw a burner party in what is essentially becoming a Hooverville. We could make a benefit out of it by bringing shower water and other essentials for Slab City's recessionary refugees.

Re: Box truck shade structure ideas

The back porch is mainly to make the total dimensions of the top tarp 10x30 which is easy to find. I'm fairy local in Sacramento, so portability isn't a big deal with me. I do have concerns about strong winds blowing some of the other tarp structure designs though. I think you could hold a piece of ...

Re: Box truck shade structure ideas

Ok, how about this. Get several large robust inflatable beachballs, (deflated for travel) and once inflated on the playa, line them up in a row down the center of the roof to form a ridge line. Perhaps band them all together using duct tape so they don't get out of line, then stretch your tarp tigh...

Pulsing also allows the inclusion of people to Burning Man who cannot afford to buy vehicles with modern cooling systems.
