Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

Does anyone know (not guessing but know) if, how and when those leaving the event are counted? I left on Friday in 2004 and early Saturday in 2008. There was no exit gate check or anybody at the road that we could see that was counting or keeping track of anything. Did any of you who left early this...

Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

My apologies. It was Tribolyte who said "most all were used" about 58K tickets. I'm well familiar with the inconsistencies of the org and have learned to ignore a lot of it. But this year was was an outstanding year in that department. It was when we got the email from inside the org, with the subje...

Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

That's what I thought. It makes sense, as most business don't make public that kind of info. But then why did you say most tickets were used?

Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

It did seem that plenty of people left or were planning to leave between Friday night and Saturday night (pre Burn). Our camp and each of our neighboring camps had members who left starting Friday night. The attitude wasn't one of regret about missing the Burn or about avoiding Exodus. Everybody I k...

Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

You say that most tickets were used. Did you receive info from the org to support that? Are you privy to the number that "came through the gates"? If so, can you please share it? Thanks!

Re: What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

I don't know if this year's attendance number of aprox. 53K is peak attendance or total attendees. It doesn't bother me, but I don't understand it. We should all be so lucky to own a business that pre-sells a product or service where 5-10% of the customers don't ever utilize the product or service. ...

What happened to the 57K tickets sold in 2012?

Is anyone else confused about the 2012 attendance numbers versus tickets that were supposedly sold. If you add the Pre-sale (3K), the Main Sale (40K), Low Income (4K) and Direct Distribution (10K), that's 57K sold tickets. It assumes that all 10K of the DD tickets did get sold (theme camps, contribu...

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?

BBadger: Truth be told, we were offered such opportunities in two different theme camps. One is a bona fide "theme camp". The other is what I would call a BM "infrastructure camp". We are very small group/camp (2-4 family members, camping with various friends each year), creating what I would call a...

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?

You could always just join a crony-ism'd in theme camp and magically become part of the "fabric of Burning Man" that they're trying so hard to preserve via directed distribution. You'll magically afford a top tier ticket. Who needs artists, creators, MV builders and core interactive theme camp memb...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Littlewing2: thanks for sharing some details of the direct distrib. tix. So one will need an approved name or code in order to purchase one, which sounds reasonable as BM wants the theme camps to be specific in its requests. But the tickets don't have assigned names and they are transferable and won...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Thanks Eric for checking in to it. Doesn't yet sound, to me, like the 10K directed distribution will actually be identity based or non-transferable tickets (or will call), but rather the LLC is asking theme camp leaders to be specific in requests, as they should be. More good faith! Not the same thi...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Not saying it won't happen but 10,0000 non-transferable Will Call Tickets? Plus 4000 Low Income non-transferable Will Call tickets? And maybe 2000 STEP non-transferable Will Call tickets? Not to mention all the international Will Call tickets and those that requested Will Call instead of delivery? H...

Re: Step Question

Drawingablank: I think your question is understandable and it's coming up a lot not because people aren't listening, but because none of us were strategizing about STEP Registration back when were signing up for The Lottery. We can only handle one set of rules at a time. The rules for STEP were crea...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

I don't have the same understanding. Do we know for sure that theme camps participants are having to buy non-transferable tickets? Say 50 of the tickets already sold in STEP went to people who will participate in a theme camp. So the theme camp doesn't need a ticket for that person anymore, so won't...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

I am assuming the directed ticket distribution is for regular transferable tickets? If so, no one is going to cancel their STEP placement if they get one of those tickets. Especially if they have early entry passes and will be able to weather the dreaded Will Call more easily. At least we hope! So t...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

I think STEP only getting 200 tickets to start AND the cut-off of signups at 2000 sent the message to the community that there aren't going to be anymore major chances for ticket purchases. So I'm guessing people who know they aren't part of the juried direct ticket distribution are starting to make...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

I think there might be some confusion or misinformation about how many tickets can end up on STEP. Right now, BMorg is allowing anyone with extra tickets to sell them back. Once they issue paper tickets in June, NONE of those tickets are eligible for STEP. The only tickets that STEP will accept afte...

Re: Did you get a STEP Ticket?

Congrats to those who got tickets already! For those of us at the end of the 2000 Mighty Refreshers Queue, are we taking any bets? Will 1800 more tickets show up on STEP before August? That would mean that 5% of the 43,000 tickets sold in the Pre Sale and Lottery would show up on STEP. Do 5% of Burn...

Re: STEP has launched... but server crashed immediately

I was riffing on Ginsberg so I meant the best minds of every generation.....starting with his and ending with my daughters' generation who have been going to Burning Man since they were kids. Curie and Newton can be here in spirit. BMorg and it's community need all the help they can get.

Re: STEP has launched... but server crashed immediately

Ah, the oh so familiar crashing and blank screens and refreshing. That's the Burning Man we know and love! My husband finally got a screen that says we are in the queue at 12:24 PST. Does anyone know if queue was cut off at 2000 people or 2000 ticket requests? Best case scenario would be 10 to 1 cha...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

This has been frustrating. This is my tenth year. Registered for top tier. No tickets for me, my husband or my daughter. I'm curious why the BMorg says that Burners have too many extra tickets and that STEP will solve this. They are not sharing what evidence they have that anyone has "extra" tickets...
