Wow, your "no work" fees are pretty steep- I guess the people paying what's posted here (should you be posting fees here? I'm not sure of the etiquette) get the honor of serving the ones who pony up more? I'd love to see a description of your programming, tell me more about these transformative work...

Re: Only second burn - how can I find a camp with RV hookups
I'm always curious when someone's first post is asking for something- particularly when looking for a pay-for-service- and then you never hear from them again. How is 8 posts in this thread never being heard from again? 8 posts is a third of what I've managed in 3 years- if she sticks around, she'l...

I'm always curious when someone's first post is asking for something- particularly when looking for a pay-for-service- and then you never hear from them again. It's like crashing a party to take a dump in the can and lifting a bottle from the host bar as you cruise back out the door. Not really in t...

Hi Phillip! I think that's fabulous! (I would certainly like to learn how to tango.) There will be two threads at the top of the 2013 Art and Performance forum (http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewforum.php?f=321) . . . very soon. They will be called * Artists Seeking Stages * Stages Seeking Artists C...

my first year- I was going to buy a tent, but there was a perfectly good one pulled out of the camp storage that I borrowed. year 2- a friend had built a yurt, so he lent me his tent-castle year 3- friends couldn't make the burn so I borrowed their Barbie Dream House mega tent year 4- slept in a box...

Don't be so determined to prove your work ethic to your camp that you exhaust yourself under the sun and render yourself completely useless. Take breaks when you need them and remember that anyone giving you attitude for resting probably needs to drink more water themselves.

Re: New Theme Camp Frustration
We do a meal plan in our camp, breakfast and dinner prepared onsite and the budget comes out of a larger "dues pot" that goes toward everything- repairs to the gennie, transpo for infrastructure, new speakers when they finally die etc, and dues are not optional. Everyone in the camp of 80 signs up f...

I'm trying to wrap my brain around possible hacks for easier portability. I was wondering if anyone active on the board has tried cutting the 10' ribs in half and re-attached using additional 1 1/4 joints? I imagine that would sacrifice stability, but maybe additional strapping could compensate? My ...

Re: Same Attire Every Year?
I'm limited to the 50 lbs I can fly with (wardrobe and what gear I don't store/intend to buy in Reno), every new thing I find through the year means taking something out. It's tragic. The more mix-and-match a piece can be, the longer it'll stay through multiple suitcase repackings. I try to get a fe...

Re: Low income debate
The idea that the low income program is a tax, I assume is suggesting ticket prices would be lower without it. Threads on the ticket price have hammered upon us that the business can set their ticket price at whatever the market demands. It's just as not up to us where they spend their money. And it...

so, it's 12°C here today in Toronto Canada. (that's 56.3 Farenheights), seems non-winters here are becoming the new normal.
Instead of complaining, I might leave the house and enjoy it.

Our theme camp leadership changes hands every year- including the person who writes the application, and w/w/w listings for the cafe stage so it would be nice if each camp member could access the theme camp information for future reference. I imagine that will not be the case though.

Re: Should Camp Finances be Public?
A couple of years ago my camp added a "you should" committee to our leadership crew of 10 out of the 80 we camp with. Anyone who has an idea that starts with "you should" gets sent to the committee lead to be straightened out. There are always opportunities to contribute to the camp in a committee h...

Re: Anecdotal stuff
People can't get rid of their tickets in Toronto. I think the distance/planning involved in big travel had people without tickets resigned to missing out this year, and didn't book vacation time, didn't book flights etc. The moral of the story- prepare as if you have a ticket, there are always ticke...

Has anyone suggested wearing a watch yet? Re: Getting carded on the playa
Our camp got dinged one year, though the charge was dropped after the burn. We're pretty serious of ID-ing everyone who looks young, and the person who serves an underager will be personally responsible for the fine incurred (rather than the camp) which gives us all plenty of motivation to cover our...
