Re: elitism and its impact on available tickets

It's worth noting that the 1.7 average tickets requested per person is based on the assumption that no one can order more than 2 tickets, however, I've seen a lot of people who say things like "My wife and I ordered two each" or "I borrowed my aunt & uncle's credit cards and entered for six." So cle...

This was by far my FAVORITE place to watch the sunrise. I would always find myself heading back in that direction when I saw the sky begin to brighten.

Here's a picture from Wednesday Morning:

Well I'm from Ontario and we have draconian liquor licensing laws and a state-run monopoly on alcohol sales, so I'm guessing our prices are higher than in Nevada.

For instance, a 6 pack of beer here is $12-$15. Is it similar in the US?

Re: Weather history for years past?

I'm really curious how cold it got at night in these two years, so I can bracket the forecast in terms of my own experiences. Does anyone know? Is there a website that has a history? Wolfram Alpha knows all! http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=weather+gerlach,+NV+aug+30+to+sept+5 http://www.wolfra...

Maximizing booze-gifting through regional supply comparison.

I'm planning on bringing a whole bunch of extra drinks to gift on the playa, but my budget is getting stretched pretty thin at this point, so I want to get the most bang for my buck! To get to the playa we're driving from buffalo, so we'll be passing through a number of states (New York, Iowa, Ohio,...

Yep, kinda bored!

Also, I'm just doing the states that we'll be driving through on our way from Toronto to Nevada.

I imagine we may have mini celebrations as we move from no-drinking to drinking states! (And frantic cleaning before we enter the no-drinking states.)

Open container laws & RVs

I've been reading up on open container laws and RVs and have discovered that in many states passengers in the living area of the RV can drink alcohol, as long as it's nowhere near the driver. Everything I've read says it varys from state to state. Do you know the laws for any particular states? If s...

This may be a simple trick, but I thought I'd share it! I got a bunch of those paper chinese lanterns down in chihiatown, and hang a small LED flashlight inside!

I think they're gonna look wicked on the campsite! Total cost: about $4!

Tent Stakes

Just bought my tent (a sweet 4-season tent from Mountain Equipment Coop) and I've still got to get pegs. Is rebar necessary for a normal sized tent?

If I get 12" stakes and keep my tent weighted will that be enough?
