In about 12 hours, or a bit less, I'll be on the road to BRC for one one more visit.
Here's a wish for a safe trip for everyone. Here's the desire that all will have the perfect burn, for them. And here's my ass as I head out the door.
Be safe, have fun, and drive carefully all.
Ron

I love the idea of marrying the cannon to a different MV and agree that if prior warning was given then the DMV looks even less deserving of name calling. Doc, like I said it always sucks to be told, "no," and I'm sorry that happened to you this year. The odds are pretty good that in some future yea...

Got it. :) Yeah, I have nothing to say about Doc Pyros discussion with DMV as I don't have the information I'd need to make such an opinion.spectabillis wrote:ron, you were referring to doc's discussion here - i was referring to doc's discussion with the dmv, and the raver comment was pure sarcasm.

strange zule, i thought the point was a mutant vehicle is no longer considered a mutant vehicle, and that change was a complete surprise. That's not what I'd call "very polite." then i guess you didnt read his comments again, because he posted that here and wasnt how he addressed it with the dmv. I...

Hmmmm. I'm not seeing how my pointing out that calling folk, 'nazi,' isn't likely to get them to listen to you... hmmm... i'm not seeing how name calling is what i was referring to. it was about... Bring your camera, get permission before you snap, and be prepared both for dust and for crap from the participants no matter how careful and considerate you are. Folk, Burningman is as much about attitude as it as about anything. You will bump into people who will give you crap about what you are w...

I bet some of them do. Seems to me that this is a very tricky subject and a great illustration of why various negative attitudes form. No one is happy when they are told, "no," but no one is likely to change when they are called a 'nazi,' either. Take the real need to limit motorized rigs on the pla...

J.... Again, why is this so hard for some people to see? .... Because they are inside the change. Just like it doesn't feel like you're on a planet spinning around the sun. Looks like the sun is spinning around us, doesn't it? We're inside the system and it takes special effort to look outside it. ...

... Thoughts? You've illustrated the common burner change and growth line very well. :) Seems to me that many of us, our first few times to BRC, are overwhelmed with awe and wonder. We wader around, seeing all the cool people doing cool stuff and fall in love with the place. As the years pass we co...

Irony? Watching us be bitter and bicker and then pat ourselves on the back for being better than the 3playa folk (among others) is a good does of that. I'm not a lawyer and am not an expert on Nevada's prostitution laws but I do know Washington's and have worked in the adult business, on and off, since about 1987 so I'm not clue-less either. Short answer, if there is no explicit exchange of sexual favors (or simulated sexual favors) for cash or cas...

"We must be very careful because if we don't know where we are going we just might get there." I'd propose that until we get some idea of *why* we want a policy, and what goals we have with it, we'll continue spinning our conversational wheels, year after year, and not get anywhere. For example we m...

I'm not sure I equate asking for a ticket with freeloading, but I suppose that's just me. For myself a freeloader is someone who has a pattern of accepting gifts and not giving any back. One request does not a pattern make, to me. Having said that when I've ran a camp I've made damn sure we didn't h...
