Updated link.
Thanks for the stage sticky. Anyone have tips on how to make something non-amplified work at Burning Man? The spoken word stage last year at CC wasn't bad--we had a blast playing there. Still, it's hard to hear.

Interested in improv comedy at Burning Man? Some of us got together last year and had a flarkin' blast. If you're an improviser and you're interested in connecting with some folks from Chicago, send me an e-mail. ryanastone@yahoo.com Two threads from last year. http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic...

I'm giving herpes as a playa gift this year. I didn't read this whole damn thread, so maybe someone stole that joke. I'll totally sue you. Nice try with that sex pile. It's not gonna pan out and won't be a very positive experience for most involved. Trust the people on this board that have been burn...

Consider volunteering, too. That's a great way to meet a group, and as soon as people figure out that you're not ultra-weird*, they'd likely love to love you. Baby. http://www.burningman.com/participate/volunteer.html *You better be on your weirdest behavior, but you know, not gun-toting, boobie-gra...

Right on, KitchenGodDave. Except Canadians aren't funny. We all know this. Huhhuh. The first season of Kids in the Hall is making my summer (and that's all of Canadian comedy, right?....right?). This sounds great. So I'll send you a privatized message or an e-mail and maybe we can find a time to mee...

Thanks!
So we first-time bussers are coming along pretty well. We need to get our certifications taken care of, but we made a ton of progress. Thanks for the help and suggestions. The last and biggest modification will be attaching a roof-rack. If anyone has suggestions on anchoring it, please share. We're ...

"some kind of fairly unstructured long form ... Sort of a scenic expansion or a Movie. Maybe do awaya with the audience suggestion and while we're at it, the audience: just consider the people watching (if any) to be set pieces or slightly reluctant players." That's a pretty good description of lif...

We don't have a stage, but I imagine we could still put on a show at our camp. I'd also like to do one at ...

Yes to all of that. Improv is very open to audience participation, be it overt or even at it's most tacit. What you describe is closer to short form, the kind of stuff you see on Who's Line is it Anyway? That's funny stuff and those guys are great, but longform is fairly different and can really go ...

Improv Comedy in BRC
Looking to join and / or start an improv group on the playa. I mostly play long form, and would be looking to play with people who perhaps have studied improv at a theater such as improv olympic, second city, comedy sportz, the groundlings, UCB, etc. I imagine my 35 or so campmates would like to see...

seatbelts
This is great--we have a bus and modifications are underway. What I can't seem to pin down is a list of the laws on modifications. Do we need to have seatbelts in our bus? The driver will have one, but do the back seats need restraints? If anyone knows an online source of this info, please post it h...

Last year it seemed the heat was on early, but once Thursday rolled around, the police presence seemed commensurate to the population. On first Monday our hookah was out on the table in the center of our camp. It wasn't packed with anything, and it was largely used for smoking shisha anyway. But the...

Yeah, bring the epi-pen. It sounds like you shouldn't go too far without it anyway. Not only bring it, but show your campmates how to use it should you be unable to, and make sure you can find the med-tent in an altered (by venom or whatever) state. I haven't seen any bugs at all, however. Some peop...

Thanks very much for the reply and e-mail. This is very helpful. I will check out these resources. Anyone know offhand about pulling out seats? We plan to remove a good portion of the seats in back and probably cover the windows. We will build a rack on top but not taller than 13 ft. it sounds like....

Yes, we did a jockey box last year and it was great. Except we should have got CO2--the beer was cold but slow. We way over-estimated the number of kegs we needed also. Probably because it was running slow and thus hard to give away. We needed to make an ice trip everyday, but we were also using the...

School Bus Modifications--Legal Questions
We're modifying a school bus and driving it from Chicago. Where do I find out what makes it legal for the road, how tall it can be, how not to get pulled over, etc.? It will be an older model, diesel, and we know we need to paint it and we're pretty sure we don't need a CDL (Commercial Driver's Lice...
