Re: How do you light the stakes around your camp?

Thanks for your replies! Those dollar tree ones look great for our budget, tattoogoddess, but I am a bit skeptical of the quality from the dollar tree. I've gotten stuff that works great from there, but also some things that break immediately upon arrival. But I definitely want to order a couple and...

How do you light the stakes around your camp?

Hey guys! I haven't posted in here in a while, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out the best way to light the stakes around my camp but also as affordable as possible (and not something that will break by Wednesday night out on the playa). My camp has a good sized bar that requires quite a fe...

Re: Food Camps Past and Present

I've always been fortunate enough to be camped close to Nacho Mamas the past few years - those nachos have damn near saved my life on many an afternoon on the playa!

Re: Advice for managing the kitchen?

For group meals last year, we only did dinner as well. The kitchen was open for personal use throughout the day/night when it wasn't dinner time. The way we did dinner last year worked really well. I assigned "meal teams" of about 4-6 people per day to cook dinner for the whole camp of around 35 peo...

Advice for managing the kitchen?

Hello all, I was wondering if any of you have run/managed the kitchen for a semi-large camp in past years and had any advice to give? Last year I was part of a first year registered theme camp and was kitchen manager. There were about 35 people in total. Overall, it went well but there is (of course...

This is a good idea and I can see some hilarious things happening when burners are asked to confess their "sins." Audio would be cool, but you may also want to consider having pens and a guestbook of sorts to allow people to write down their stories for others to read as they just pass through. I th...

If executed well, this project could turn out very well. It seems complicated but if you have the funds and find the means to make it happen that would be awesome. I would be especially stoked about the slide part (the big slide out on the deep playa at bman '09 was sweet and seemed to be a huge suc...

Oh ya, one more. If you plan on bringing veggies (which you should, delicious and nutritious :D ), cut them up before you leave for the playa and put them in separate ziploc bags and in your cooler. Trust me, you do not want to be cutting an onion or slicing a bell pepper in the uncomfortable and mo...

Bring as little food as possible that needs to be cold at all times. Sure, some is good, but when it gets melty and packaging begins to leak, you're headed for a food disaster of epic disgusting proportions. Think beef jerky, canned tuna and beans, granola bars and top ramen. (on this note, a good t...

What are everybody's showering preferences while on the playa? Are you the type that needs 2 showers a day, or the type that uses 1 baby wipe the whole week?

Someone called me brushfire on the playa because my hair was dyed colors or pink, orange and yellow so I guess it was reminiscent of fire.
