Re: 2011 deaths, injuries, arrests and tickets
The death that I heard about, from an ESD friend, was an older guy who died in his tent during the night only to be found by his son the next morning in a pool of his own vomit

Re: Playa Names
I got the name Starbuck this year...it was originally Starfucker, since one of my favorite things about the burn is to actually be able to see the stars (I'm a bit of an astronomy nerd), but that was too close to Starfuckers. So it morphed into Starbuck, since I'm also a very vocal fan of Battlestar...

If you're looking for warm weather, you won't find too much of it in San Francisco or northern California in general. Hey...our 6 month 110 degree summers here in Sacramento beg to differ :) I actually go to burning man to get away from the heat. Hell, on the first day of autumn last week, it was o...

Re: Your personal most bizarre/WTF moment of 2011
There was a couple who parked right next to the jots on B near 9:00, they had a little pup tent they slept in next to the car but for the most part they spent the entire burn (as far as any of us could tell) inside their vehicle. Every time any of our campmates went past, they were in there napping,...

Re: Top Asshats of 2011 Burning Man
Oh, here are two asshats I just remembered. The two guys (from two different camps) that set up their living areas right next to our long established shower set up when there was still a ton of space in their respective areas to camp. One guy parked his camper trailer right next to the shower so his...

It's looking like there won't be an "official" Sac Decom this year and it's been a pretty debated about topic amongst the everyone. There is an organizational meeting this next Monday, actually. Here is the news clip: Ready to make a Sacramento Decom happen? Step 1 – Meet to decide on a venue and d...

OP should've pulled a Death Guild and had someone "prank" them by putting up a corporate logo/sign http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2485/3883339545_16fb8d50cf.jpg I was so happy about that, since it was a fun jab at the whole "we're non-conformists, we don't need costumes...now lets all go shop at th...

My personal experience this year: 1) BLM law enforcement officers are a posse of small prick assholes hell-bent on continuing to the practice of wiping their collective asses on the Constitution. At some point the ACLU ends up with a case that ends up taking them to the tool shed 2) Pershing Co. la...

Re: post what you didn't like about 2011 here
No way, Planet Earth rocked! It was so ridiculously nice to hear awesome 80's music while trying to fall asleep rather than obnoxious dub step. It gave the whole 9:00 Plaza a very chilled vibe. 80's music?! I hope they're around again next year. Me too! It was seriously refreshing hearing duran dur...

Decommodification is probably my favorite. One of my main reasons for going is to have a week of my life where I'm not bombarded by advertising.

Re: post what you didn't like about 2011 here
What, attitude from the DPW? I'm shocked, shocked. Yes, while they are surely among the hardest working and longest-staying on the playa, saying "we built this city" has always been to me an unpleasant expression of that famous attitude. You worked very hard, and did a valuable service for which th...

I built one and it worked ok. I think my ducting was too narrow and it hurt the efficiency, though.
My monkey hut ended up working so well, that by wednesday the cooler had moved out of my area and over to keep our camp's stereo equipment from overheating

I don't see the point of so many lanes for exodus. Dump the pulse and just have the 2 outside lanes for the lines out with the 2 lanes beside those to go around the breakdowns. You can only put so much traffic on to 37 anyway and this way the lines would never stop, just a continious slow cruise to...

We had both sides of the trespasser problem. We had people that just pushed through our living area (like, stepping over the coffee table between our two couches as everyone was sitting and hanging out) without saying a word and we had randoms that plopped down and hung out. We're now good friends w...

Awesome, glad you guys liked it! We love the dome too, this year was its 10th burn and it is pretty nice and cozy. The prop box is actually a really good idea, I think it would add a lot to the photos. Especially for those people that couldn't really figure out how to pose. We had planned on operati...

We left during the the Temple burn (watched about half of it from camp before we headed out) there was virtually no wait. It took maybe 30 minutes to go from the 9:00 plaza to 447.
